Overview

The Chick-fil-A Tax Department is responsible for tax compliance, technology, special projects, research, and audit defense functions for independently owned franchised restaurants and corporate activities. We exist to provide tax planning, regulatory reporting and consulting to stakeholders, governments, external auditors, and business leaders. As we grow in complexity and global footprint, we seek to influence business decisions, reduce tax liability, and mitigate risk.

This role will serve the Chick-fil-A Tax Department by enhancing and maintaining the various technology systems used within the Tax Department. The role will support various strategic initiatives and will work with internal business partners such as Financial Services and Digital Transformation. This individual will be responsible for leveraging technology tools to solve business problems, analyze and query data sets and evaluate and implement efficiencies in Tax Department processes. This role will coordinate with business partners to ensure correct and complete calculation, reporting and remittance of state and local indirect taxes.

Responsibilities

Support Tax Department by performing the following essential functions:

Demonstrate an understanding of increasingly complex sales tax concepts and effectively apply knowledge to develop and maintain tax systems and data flow.

Collaborate with Sales Tax Research and Compliance teams to ensure tax systems reflect current regulatory requirements and audit results.

Maintain a thorough understanding of the tax department’s technology and information needs to facilitate the creation and maintenance of the tax systems necessary to support the business, while meeting regulatory requirements.

Collect and document system and reporting enhancements requested by tax department.

Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, efficiency gains and application of tax process and technology best practices using new and existing technologies.

Develop and maintains tax department reporting dashboards and data flows.

Works closely with Digital Transformation Team to prototype, develop, regression test and implement tax technology solutions.

Serve as a technology resource to colleagues in the Tax Department.

Serve on cross-functional teams with internal and external partners for strategic initiatives.

Required to manage more than one complex assignment at once.

Minimum Qualifications

Tableau, Alteryx, or other BI tools

Strong analytical skills

Proficient in collecting and analyzing complex data sets

Ability to interpret data and summarize data

Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

6+ years experience

Masters Degree in Accounting or Tax, Masters Information Systems Degree or CPA Certification

Experience with OneSource Sales and Use Tax Compliance software

CPA or CPA eligible
