Job Title: Vinyl Extrusion Lead Operator

Location: Jacksonville, Florida

Compensation: $18 - 26 an hour (Negotiable)

Job Description

As a Vinyl Extrusion Lead Operator at our building materials company in Jacksonville, Florida, you will oversee the vinyl extrusion process, ensuring the production of high-quality vinyl profiles used in various building products. You will lead a team of operators, maintain production schedules, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervision and Leadership:

Lead, train, and supervise a team of extrusion operators. Schedule and coordinate daily work activities to meet production targets. Monitor team performance and provide feedback for continuous improvement.

Operation Management:

Set up and operate vinyl extrusion machines. Monitor production processes to ensure efficiency and quality. Adjust machine settings to meet product specifications. Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment.

Quality Control:

Conduct regular quality checks on extruded vinyl products. Ensure all products meet company standards and customer specifications. Document and report any quality issues and take corrective actions as needed.

Safety and Compliance:

Ensure all team members adhere to safety protocols and procedures. Conduct safety training and enforce safety standards. Maintain a clean and safe working environment.

Inventory and Materials Management:

Manage inventory of raw materials and finished products. Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure adequate supply levels. Track material usage and minimize waste.

Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain accurate records of production data, including output, downtime, and maintenance activities. Prepare and submit production reports to management. Assist in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in extrusion or manufacturing preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in vinyl extrusion, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role. Strong knowledge of extrusion machinery and processes. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. Strong leadership and communication skills. Proficient in using computer software for documentation and reporting.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, and move around the production floor for extended periods. Manual dexterity to operate machinery and handle materials.

Work Environment:

The position involves working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery noise, dust, and varying temperatures. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
