S3 Residence, disability, and veterans encouraged to apply.This position will perform and manage the accounting work for his/her assigned division and projects. The accounting work includes management of all accounting transactions related to the assigned division and projects and is a primary financial support role for division Directors. The position requires strong accounting and analytical skills, as well as a compliance mindset.

General Accounting Responsibilities

manage the following responsibilities for all assigned projects:Work closely and coordinate with Project Managers to prepare project billing items and amount to bill, unbilled revenue, invoice revisions, and applicable backup documents Process billings in Costpoint and submit invoice packages to client.Coordinate and advise Accounts Payable team on project costs relative to subcontractor and other major vendor invoices related to assigned projects. Prepare for and help coordinate monthly close and post-closing activities.Review and advise on new project setup requests, verify all required project information and is available and follow-up on missing information, and communicate project setup status to Project Managers.Update Costpoint with any contract/client/project modifications. Enter and maintain data necessary for the contract backlog report.Assist Project Managers and Directors in understanding accounting activities such as billing, unbilled amounts, unpaid invoices, accounting due dates.Prepare for and help coordinate the year-end closing activities.Prepare for and help coordinate the annual audit activities and respond to requests for explanation of transactions and accounting treatments, production of documents and other related information.Assist with key compliance monitoring and training areas related to projects.Assist with other general accounting related responsibilities as assigned.Advisor Responsibilities -

Assist with accomplishing the following:Review solicitations and contracts to advise Project Managers of financial obligations and potential risks.Analyze revenue, expense, and receivables to forecast potential gains and losses.Provide support to Project Managers and Division Directors with respect to internal control expectations, policies and procedures, accounting treatments, use of financial reports, and any other inquiries.Assist with other accounting advisory responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:Essential skills and Experience:BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.Minimum of 35-year experience in financial accounting, preferably in a not-for-profit or government contracting environment.Understanding of and experience with financial compliance, contracting, and auditing requirements.Demonstrated ability to use large scale automated accounting systems, knowledge of Deltek Costpoint is preferred.Direct experience in performing and reviewing project and account balance reconciliations as well as preparing and reviewing ledger entries, adjustments, and accruals.Experience in preparing materials for and responding to end-of-year audits.Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.Experience in preparing and/or reviewing financial statements, including variance analysis, as well as the ability to explain these to persons with little financial acumen.Ability to work well under pressure, organize and set priorities, meet deadlines, handle multiple tasks simultaneously.Ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral.

Physical Demands:Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job the employee must be mobile in an office environment and able to use standard office equipment and must be able to communicate in verbal and written form.Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to a typical office environment with exposure to a minimal noise level.
