Overview:
This is a System Administrator III position within an embedded IT support team which provides support on a stand-alone and classified network within a world class Department of Energy laboratory. The organizations overall mission is to provide consistency of regulatory requirements - interpretation and implementation; application of "minimum requirements and best practices" to the center laboratories; and to support initiatives to improve the safety and security of the center workers and lab operations. This team provides mostly Microsoft Windows support to their customer base and travels to our Kauai facility on a quarterly basis to offer technical support for our customers test environment.Responsibilities:Provide server and desktop Windows support to our customer base.Virtualization of servers and desktop machines on the stand alone and classified networksHardware troubleshooting (desktops, servers, IoT devices, printers)Inventory management at remote siteSoftware support for customer specific COTS and in house created applications.Checking logs, hardening systems against STIGS, and other security related tasksWorking with vendors when issues cannot be solved in house and for warrantee work.Server installations and decommissions.Working in high stress environment when at remote test location (this is a quarterly duty rotated amongst the team members).Qualifications:
Education/Experience BA/BS in IT Related field plus 2 years of IT experienceMust be a US CitizenshipActive U.S. Department of Energy Q security clearanceRequired Skills:Windows/Linux system administration experience for at least 2 years with the following skills:End-User Application SupportSystem SetupAccount ManagementFile servicesNetwork ConfigurationApplication HostingFamiliarity with Firewall technology & management of private network(s)VMWare or other virtualization experienceAbility to effectively collaborate with other IT professionalsAbility to work well in a collaborative team environmentDesired Skills:Server room management (e.g. - power, cooling, cabling, racking)Experience with quality assurance testingExperience in Virtual/Cloud DeploymentsDeveloping scripts for automating services tasks
