Summary: VCU's Audit and Compliance has an exciting opportunity for an
Auditor/Sr Auditor . Level of hire will be based on the selected candidate's qualifications and experience.Audit and Compliance Services works in partnership with university and VCU Health management to anticipate and manage risks; ensure the integrity of internal controls; ensure strong stewardship and management accountability; and promote a culture of compliance.Our mission is to promote a culture of integrity and accountability by providing collaborative, risk-based and objective services.
The Opportunity The Auditor/Sr Auditor position duties, based on experience, include planning, coordinating and conducting audit, consulting or other special engagements under the direction of the supervisor. The position will perform engagement fieldwork, document test work, develop work papers in accordance with Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Standards and identify and communicate engagement results through a formal report process. Internal department projects or responsibilities may also be assigned. Candidates qualifying for a senior auditor role would perform these duties independently and may also lead an audit team in planning, coordination and execution of engagements or other project work. Senior auditors review workpapers and reports prepared by other team members and perform more complex projects.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related degree with accounting coursework, such as finance, or business administration, or equivalent combination of education and professional experienceAbility to communicate clearly and effectivelyStrong interpersonal skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office or similar applicationsAbility to manage several projects simultaneously and to effectively manage workload to meet deadlinesAbility to maintain integrity, objectivity, independence, and confidentialityFor candidates qualifying for Senior Auditor role, all of the above plus experience guiding less experienced auditors, reviewing the audit work of other team members and providing feedbackDemonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in accounting, auditing, business process analysis or related fieldsKnowledge of internal controlsWorking knowledge of accounting principles and auditing standardsAbility to organize and document engagement work papers in accordance with IIA StandardsCPA (Certified Public Accountant), CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) or eligibility to pursue certification Working knowledge of automated audit softwareWorking knowledge of automated audit softwareWorking knowledge of data mining tools and methodologiesExperience in serving as a lead auditor
