Job Description
MAJOR FUNCTION:
The clinical nurse educator assesses, promotes and contributes to the quality of nursing care administered to patients and their support systems throughout the health care continuum. Specialization in nursing practice includes in-depth study of relevant theories and scientific knowledge related to various patient populations, which promotes the ability to analyze and refine nursing practice and generate increase nursing knowledge. The Clinical Nurse Educator must have the ability to use the nursing process sequential steps of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation in formulating the plan of care, and have the ability to supervise and educate others. The Clinical Nurse Educator performs the roles of expert clinician, educator and researcher based on focal clinical priorities and are responsible for designing, delivering and evaluating outcomes leader to continuous improvement. The clinical nurse educator must have excellent verbal and written communication, advanced critical thinking skills and have the ability to collaborate with medical providers and interdisciplinary teams to ensure evidence-based nursing practice models are promoted. The Clinical Nurse Educator should be knowledgeable of the latest nursing research trends and have the ability to influence staff to perform at the top of their license. The Nurse Educators must have the ability to motivate and educate staff to adopt new practice changes and adherence to the organization policies and procedures. The Clinical Nurse Educator educates clinical nurses, nursing assistants and technicians in the use of new equipment, supplies and instruments; coordinates in-service training and skills workshops for all appropriate staff. The Clinical Nurse Educator may also serve as a preceptor to influence staff nurses' professional development. The Clinical Nurse Educator is responsible for assisting the Nursing Leaders in achieving the organizational strategic plan goals by monitoring quality data and staff performance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:Bachelor's Degree required.Master's Degree preferred or actively working towards obtaining.Registered Nurse in NJ or compact state license.Minimum of three years clinical nurse experience.Certification/Licensure:
National certification in area of specialty within 1 year of hire.American Heart Association ACLS preferred.American Heart Association BLS required.Knowledge & Skills:
Demonstrates role-modeling behavior through expert patient care delivery and effective interpersonal communication with staff.
