Job Summary:

MedStar Health is looking for a Transporter to join our team at MedStar Montgomery Medical Center.

As a Transporter, you will be responsible for the timely, courteous, safe, and competent transportation of patients throughout the medical center via wheelchair, stretcher, or bed. It is essential to provide service excellence to patients, visitors, and hospital staff.

Primary Duties:

Transports patient, his/her personal possessions, medical records, and attached clinical devices (IV's and oxygen) by wheelchair, stretcher, bed, etc. to and from various hospital locations, and to the hospital entrance, upon discharge. Ensures the safety of the patient during transport. Ensures the comfort of the patient by being attentive, offering blankets, checks modesty and engaging in appropriate conversation with the patient.Assists in lifting, positioning, and transferring patients to and from examination tables, operative tables, wheelchairs, stretchers and/or beds. Provides lift and positioning assistance as assigned. Assures that patient is comfortable and securely fastened. Alerts nursing staff immediately to any signs of patient distress or unfavorable symptoms.Performs positive patient identification, ensuring patient has hospital identification band corresponding with name and date of birth (DOB) for the assigned transport.Moves beds and other equipment within units and between units as needed and assists nursing staff with removal of expired bodies from units and transport to morgue.Inspects transportation equipment for damage and/or defects. Cleans transportation equipment by wiping surfaces with pre-mixed cleaning solutions. Reports damaged or malfunctioning transport equipment. Supports department by providing coverage when there are shortages.Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED.Minimum 18 years of age or Medical Career Intern with Work Permit.CPR.Previous experience with customer service preferred.Experience in healthcare setting preferred.

This position has a hiring range of $17.50 - $27.23
