POSITION PURPOSE The Data Governance Office is critical to the success of our organization using data to drive decisions and strategy. The Technical Data Steward will be responsible for managing and ensuring the quality, consistency, and security of data across the organization The Technical Data Steward role is crucial in supporting our data governance framework, enhancing data integrity, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements This position will report directly to the Data Governance Manager ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES Monitor and improve data quality metrics, resolve data issues, and ensure data accuracy and completeness Collaborate with data owners and stakeholders to develop and enforce data governance policies, standards, procedures, and processes Manage data integration processes, ensuring proper alignment and consistency across various data sources and systems Develop and maintain comprehensive data dictionaries, metadata repositories, and data lineage documentation Ensure data practices comply with regulatory requirements and other financial regulations Effectively work with cross-functional teams, including IT, risk, compliance, and business units to align data stewardship efforts with organizational goals Utilize and develop proficiency in data governance tools and platforms for data cataloging, data quality management, and data lineage Translate functional requirements to technical requirements and document technical processes Review and ensure accuracy and integrity of data from multiple data sources by using SQL queries, and comparing data to identify discrepancies Compare transformed data to original data to ensure all pertinent information is present Implements data quality processes including conversion, parsing, analysis, standardization, and enrichment at point of entry and batch modes Responsible for process modeling by understanding and documenting the lineage of data as it moves and is transformed through various systems Identifies patterns, trends, and data inconsistencies; draws conclusions and provides recommendations in the form of remediation, corrective, and preventative actions Performs root-cause analysis of data discrepancies across disparate systems and develops action plans to resolve data quality issues Works collaboratively across the company to drive adoption of technical standards, design principles and architecture patterns in information management functional areas. Responsible for process modeling by understanding and documenting the lineage of data as it moves and is transformed through various systems Identifies patterns, trends, and data inconsistencies; draws conclusions and provides recommendations in the form of remediation, corrective, and preventative actions Performs root-cause analysis of data discrepancies across disparate systems and develops action plans to resolve data quality issues Works collaboratively across the company to drive adoption of technical standards, design principles and architecture patterns in information management functional areas. Perform data profiling, cleansing and enrichment to maintain the accuracy and integrity of data Guide data custodians and other data stakeholders to resolve any data quality issues Manage the creation of data dictionaries, business glossaries, and metadata to support data understanding and lineage Enhance data governance frameworks and practices in line with evolving industry standards and regulations Create artifacts for training business users to promote data stewardship best practices Spearhead data collection processes, business applications, storage locations, and naming standards per the data governance policies Design and document data flows, data lifecycle and data lineage information, develop and standardize data definitions, business glossaries and data catalogs Conduct implementation of new data governance technologies and document process change Create artifacts to educate and train stakeholders on data governance principles and policies Contribute to projects related to data governance, including data migration, systems integrations, and new data initiatives Support implementation and integration of data management governance tools Help build a community of best practice for data usage within the organization to help mature overall data literacy and competency Drive continuous improvement of data quality and data management practices The above statements describe the general nature and level of work only. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This role has no supervisory responsibilities QUALIFICATIONS Education/Certification: A bachelor's degree in business, finance, information technology, or related field Any professional qualification would be advantageous Relevant certifications such as CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) can distinguish the candidate further Required Knowledge: Familiarity with data governance concepts Expertise in SQL and database structures Basic Knowledge of ETL processes Expertise in BI tools like Power BI, Tableau, Qlik Sense Experience Required: Minimum 3 years of experience as a technical data steward with a focus on data governance and data management practices 3 years of experience in highly regulated and information-centric industry such as financial services 3 years of experience in banking and financial domain especially in deposits, loans will be a value add 3 to 5 years of experience in data modeling and data flow diagrams Knowledge of data governance principles, practices, and technologies Familiarity with banking regulations and standards affecting data privacy and protection Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail Ability to manage multiple tasks and priories in a fast-paced environment Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Excellent communication and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple tasks and priories in a fast-paced environment Skills/Abilities: Ability to make appropriate judgments and decisions with limited guidance.
