**Certifications:** ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS, TNCC preferred

**Job Description:**

- Participate in a proctored Dysrhythmia Test onsite on the first day, which is pass/fail.- Work on a unit with 28 beds, 4 fast-track, 2 trauma bays, and hallway beds.- Maintain patient ratios of 1 to 4.- Use Cerner for electronic medical records.- Benefit from a charge nurse who does not take patient assignments.- Collaborate with EMTs who serve as nurse aides; one EMT per shift and an additional midshift EMT to perform tech duties.- Adhere to a weekend work schedule of every other weekend.- Participate in the holiday work rotation with permanent staff.- Wear navy scrub colors.- Operate within a unit with GE telemetry, ventilators, and continuous availability of a hospitalist and intensivist.- Note there is no IV team, but respiratory therapy and pharmacy are available 24/7.- Be prepared for an on-call requirement of one day per month, possibly two, scheduled in advance with a three-day sign-up requirement.- Enjoy self-scheduling to some degree, with schedules made at least two weeks in advance.- Candidates must have experience in a high-volume, high-acuity ER, preferably with Level II trauma experience or higher.- Hospital may cancel up to three times per contract, affecting part or full shifts, though they may offer full hours in lieu of cancellation.- Participate in a 2-3 shift floor-specific orientation.- Treat a wide range of patients, with common diagnoses including trauma, stroke, pediatric cases, psych, etc., averaging 155 patients per day.- The team is focused on improving teamwork and would like someone who can lead collaborative efforts in the ER. Some travelers may handle trauma patients depending on their experience.
