Director, Information TechnologyPosition Summary:Service Wire is a premier manufacturer of industrial, utility, and commercial wire and cable. We are currently seeking an experienced and dynamic ERP Programmer to join our Houston, TX corporate team in this full-time, exempt position. As an ERP Programmer at Service Wire, you will play a pivotal role in developing, enhancing, and maintaining our ERP system, which runs through QAD. Your expertise in Progress 4GL/OpenEdge programming will be instrumental in optimizing our ERP processes, ensuring seamless integration with other systems, and contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of our IT operations. The ideal candidate possesses analytical depth and a passion for solving business-critical issues with enterprise technology.Task/Duties/Responsibilities:1. Advanced ERP System DevelopmentDevelop complex Progress 4GL/OpenEdge applications, focusing on scalability and optimization for the QAD ERP environmentLead the design and implementation of new features, modules, and customizations in the ERP system to meet evolving business needs2. Expert Database ManagementPerform advanced database design, tuning, and troubleshooting for Progress databases linked to the ERP systemImplement robust data backup and recovery procedures, ensuring data security and compliance3. System Integration and API DevelopmentLead initiatives to integrate the QAD ERP with various internal and external systems, ensuring seamless data flow and functionalityDevelop, test, and maintain APIs for efficient data exchange and system integration4. Strategic Collaboration and User SupportCollaborate with key stakeholders to understand department-specific requirements and translate these into technical solutionsProvide mentorship and training to junior developers and end-users, enhancing overall team capability and ERP system utilization5. Continuous System Improvement and InnovationProactively identify opportunities for system enhancements, conducting research and proposing innovative solutionsStay abreast of the latest trends in Progress programming, ERP technology, and manufacturing industry best practicesAdditional duties and responsibilities as assignedRequired Qualifications/Requirements:Bachelors in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field requiredMinimum of 5 years of experience in Progress 4GL/OpenEdge programming, with a strong preference for experience in an industrial manufacturing environmentDeep understanding of ERP systems, including advanced modules and customization capabilities; QAD experience preferredExpertise in managing and optimizing Progress databases, with a focus on performance tuning and securityStrong project management skills and the ability to participate cross-functional teamsExcellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholdersPreferred SkillsMasters degree in Information Systems or a related field a plusAdvanced knowledge of QADs .Net UI, Qxtend integration, and eB2.0 frameworkProficiency in Linux/Unix environments and familiarity with cloud-based ERP solutionsExperience with additional programming languages (e.g., Java, SQL) and modern software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum)Experience with EDI Processes and TransactionsWork Environment and Physical DemandsOffice Based
