Description of PositionResponsible for configuration, deployment, testing, maintenance, upgrades, management, monitoring, and troubleshooting the enterprise LAN and WAN network components to provide a secure, high-performance network. Ensure network stability and operational excellence.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Perform network design and capacity planning for modern campus LAN and WAN environmentsConduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development effortsProvides second-level technical support and emergency support related to network and system operationsDiagnoses problems with network equipment and performs equipment repair or upgrades when appropriateInstalls, configures, and maintains network cabling and networking equipmentOversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network-connected hardware, software, and peripheral devicesManage security solutions, including firewall, network traffic analysis, and intrusion detection systemsWorks in close cooperation with other IT professionals, including System Administrators, IT Security, Classroom/Lab Design and Support, and Customer ServiceOrders software, hardware, and other supplies as required for the institutional networkTrain/mentor network technicians and support staffPerforms other related duties as assigned.Minimum Expectations & Requirements

- Undergraduate degree required; or an equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience- Minimum of two years of experience required in the area of specialty; four or more years required at the highest complexity level- To perform this job successfully, an individual should know:

Network server environments, network security, network operating systems, data communication, and network management hardware and software toolsNetworking services such as DHCP/DNS/IP, SNMP, RADIUS, syslog, config management, utilization/threshold alarmingWAN, LAN, and Wireless network installation and configurationVirtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and application virtualizationNetworking concepts and protocols such as ARP, TCP, UDP, subnet organization/CIDR notation, some understanding of routing protocols- Regular attendance is an essential job function as it demonstrates dependability towards the performance of job dutiesPreferred Skills & Abilities

Education and experience beyond the minimum qualifications with recent leadership experience- Relevant industry certifications related to network design, implementation, and management- Experience with ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library, a set of detailed practices for IT service and asset management)- Experience with Ruckus and Aruba Wireless Network Solutions- Experience working with Aruba Clearpass- Experience with Splunk, SolarWinds, Palo Alto Networks Firewall- Professional experience in a community college/higher education work environment- Strong understanding of network segmentation, internal threat management, and security best practices for data center and cloud environmentsEssential Functions
