Senior Business Systems AnalystAcademic Management Center

Occupational Summary

Reporting directly to the Associate Vice Provost (AVP) for Financial Systems and Analysis, the Senior Financial Systems Business Analyst in the Academic Management Center leads development and oversight for key financial and HR reporting metrics in the Provost Area. The Analyst will work closely with academic and financial leadership across the schools and central administration to curate and develop data lines used to construct HR & financial dashboards, along with analytic data sources supporting the Academic Management Center oversight. The information produced will support decision-making by senior leadership.

Work Performed

Develop key reports and graphics to support management center needs using specialized knowledge of university-supported reporting applications (e.g., BW, Tableau, Excel) and understanding of core institutional data, including financial aid, cost allocation, and HR.Research and analyze financial and HR-related issues, summarizing and communicating trends regularly and on an ad hoc basis.Serve as the primary management center liaison to ASM related to SAP financial structures (WBS/Cost Center), including attributes used for reporting, and troubleshoot issues and inconsistencies.Distribute appropriate levels of reporting to the community and senior leadership following the established reporting cycle.Train and support department personnel on the effective use of reporting tools.Maintain a portfolio of standard periodic reports, including but not limited to HR and financial dashboards (e.g., tracking key HR metrics, schools/provost reserves, endowment resources, budget-to-actual performance, and space occupancy).Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.Skills

Demonstrated initiative, drive, and the ability to work independently to move ideas to actionable completion.Strong logic and reasoning skills to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions to problems.Skills in evaluating program performance, summarizing findings, and communicating results and context.Knowledge of Duke's data warehouse systems, query and reporting application tools, and database management. Experience with Duke's financial accounting, HR payroll systems, and PeopleSoft is highly desirable.Proficiency in report writing, querying database tools, and using Excel, BW, A04, and Tableau.Similar experience in a comparable higher education institution may be considered.

Education

Work requires a Bachelors Degree.

Experience

Work requires 5 years of experience in performing a full range of tasks OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE associated with business systems.
