Overview:
Edgewater Federal Solutions is seeking a Linux/Windows System Admin III to support the IT program at a major national laboratory.Responsibilities:Selected candidate will work autonomously or as team member/lead performing the daily monitoring maintenance, and repair of physical and virtual Server based systems.Support incident escalations requiring considerable judgement and initiative to resolve technical issues affecting hardware, operating systems, or applications.Work with vendors or external partners to diagnose and resolve issues.Maintain systems by applying operating system or application patches, install new or replace hardware, create/apply configuration changes to improve or restore system performance.Develop instructions/procedures for System Administrators I & II.Create scripts to aid with daily monitoring, maintenance, and repair of supported systems.Conduct Quality Assurance checks.Perform system capacity analysis and planning.Assist users in accessing and using business systems.On any given day the candidate may be called on to:Install, configure, maintain and monitor current automation and network tool suite.Ensure existing portfolio of network tools provide the ability to monitor, analyze and identify workflow, traffic, and service impacts.Collaborate with high performing teams in close coordination with internal and external partners to build, test, fix, deploy, and integrate new features and functionality.Perform trouble resolution activities.Update technical documents.Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Assurance or relevant field and 2+ of related networking experience handling complex projects and supporting service management processes/practices or; equivalent combination of education and experienceIn lieu of a degree, additional relevant experience may be applicableU.S. Citizenship is required per contract to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy Q clearance.Hands on experience supporting COTS software and servicesCandidate MUST have strong Red Hat Linux experience on servers (Server OS support 80/20 Red Hat/Windows server support)Familiar with various OS, such as Unix, Linux and WindowsKnowledge of various network equipmentFamiliar with automationExperience maintaining the integrity of servers and systems to meet established requirements for service levels, disaster recovery, business continuity, and securityDesired:Experience with LAN/WAN equipment such as routers, switches and protocol analyzersExperienced with Automation DevelopmentProgram in a scripting languageExperience with Linux scripting and PythonExperience supporting network tools such as AKiPS, SecureCRT, Panorama, Ciena One Control, TACACS and RadiatorAbout Us:Edgewater Federal Solutions is a privately held government contracting firm located in Frederick, MD.
