Our client at the State of Nevada has a temporary opening on its Sparks, NV Headquarters campus for a part or full-time contracted IT Technician to assist with routine IT tasks.
Incumbent will have responsibility for basic-level IT organization and monitoring tasks, including device organization and inventory, disconnection, relocation, reconnection, or decommissioning user hardware. Incumbent will troubleshoot network, hardware, and software issues of varying complexity, configuring and deploying computer, network, security, mobile device, and other IT and communications equipment. Incumbent will provide direct user assistance and customer service in an IT help desk environment.
Position Scope of Work / Duties
The consultant must:Work as part of a team that includes a cross functional group of NDA program, communication, IT and State level support staff.Assist end users in resolving hardware and software issues by fielding telephone calls, email, chat communications, diagnosing problems and performing troubleshooting and problem resolution activities.Identify issues and risks and facilitate in troubleshooting and problem resolution.Document, track and monitor problems to facilitate a timely resolution.Work under general supervision and bring inconsistencies and problems to the attention of the IT Operations Supervisor and/or IT Manager.Assist with configuration and deployment of new or replacement computing equipment such as computers, laptops, iPad/tablets, network and telecommunications components, printers, cell phones, or desk phones.Coordinate with vendors and service providers both within the state IT function and outside to facilitate and track equipment orders, problem diagnosis, repairs, and installation of new or replacement components.Position Experience and Required SkillsProfessional work experience in Information Technology providing first level support for basic technology issues.Proficient in assisting end users with various information technology hardware, software, connectivity issues and questions in a calm and professional manner.Experience with various user hardware, including desktop and laptop computers, internal components and peripherals, and other computer, networking, and/or telecommunications equipment.Working knowledge of configuring Windows operating systems for user desktop equipment and peripheral deployments.Excellent customer service skills both in written and oral communications, problem solving, writing and analytical skills.Ability to work independently under limited supervision, yet function as an integral part of a team.Graduation from high school or equivalent and four years of experience utilizing the fundamentals of typical computer systems, operating systems, applications, and peripherals, two years of which must have included IT work experience in a user support role Ability to follow guidance and standard operating procedures.
