OverviewMilliman's Indianapolis Health Practice is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Healthcare Data Analyst, Medicaid to join our Data Engineering, Architecture, and Science (I.D.E.A.S.) team. The role will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting Medicaid data to support decision-making processes, improve healthcare outcomes, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data analysis, healthcare systems, and a keen understanding of Medicaid policies and procedures. This role involves close collaboration with Milliman business teams to deliver data artifacts on a monthly, weekly, and ad-hoc basis. Proficiency in SQL, Databricks, Python, Azure, and AWS are essential; Experience with SAS, R, and RShiny are a plus.ResponsibilitiesAs part of the I.D.E.A.S. team at Milliman, this role will analyze and interpret Medicaid data to support decision-making processes, improve healthcare outcomes, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and streamline claims management data processing. Below are enhanced and specific responsibilities aligned with the team's needs:Data Collection and Management:Collect, clean, and manage large datasets from various sources including electronic health records (EHR), claims data, and other healthcare databasesEnsure data integrity, accuracy, and completenessClaims Management Data Processing:Analyze claims data to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in Medicaid claimsDevelop and implement processes for claims data validation and reconciliationCollaborate with claims management teams to streamline data processing workflows and ensure timely and accurate claims adjudicationData Analysis and Modeling:Conduct complex data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights related to Medicaid services and utilizationDevelop and implement analytical models using SQL, Databricks, and PythonUtilize Azure and AWS for data storage, processing, and analysisReporting and Visualization:Create comprehensive reports, dashboards, and visualizations to communicate findings to stakeholdersUse tools such as Tableau, Power BI, and RShiny to develop interactive visualizationsPresent data insights and recommendations to healthcare providers, administrators, and policymakersCompliance and Quality Assurance:Ensure compliance with federal and state Medicaid regulations and reporting requirementsConduct quality assurance checks to ensure data accuracy and reliabilityCollaboration and Support:Work closely with Milliman business teams, including IT, clinical staff, and management, to support data-driven decision-makingProvide training and support to staff on data-related tools and processesContinuous Improvement:Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in data analysis and managementStay updated with the latest trends and advancements in healthcare data analytics and Medicaid policiesDeliverables:Deliver data artifacts post-analysis on a monthly, weekly, and ad-hoc basis to Milliman business teamsEnsure timely and accurate delivery of data insights and recommendationsQualificationsExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong attention to detail and accuracyAbility to interpret complex data and present findings in a clear and concise mannerStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work independently as well as part of a teamAbility to support data analysis projects, develop reports and dashboards, and assist in data cleaning and preparationKnowledge of healthcare data standards and privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA)Required:Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Public Health, Health Informatics, or a related fieldMinimum of 5 years of experience in data analysis, preferably in a healthcare or Medicaid environmentStrong understanding of Medicaid policies, procedures, and regulationsFirst-hand experience with SQL, Databricks, and PythonProficiency in 1 or more cloud platforms, such as, Azure and AWSPreferred:Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Public Health, Health Informatics, or a related fieldExperience with one or more: SAS, R, and RShinyThe TeamAs a member of the Indy Data Engineering, Architecture, and Science (I.D.E.A.S.) team, you will provide analytical support services to our key state clients and their dedicated core teams, under the mentorship of senior data consultants. Our data team works cross-functionally with professionals from a variety of disciplines and backgrounds including: actuarial, policy, finance, pharmacy, data management and more.
