Responsibilities

The Desktop Support Engineer is responsible for providing technical support and troubleshooting for desktop computers, laptops, peripherals, and related software within the organization. This role ensures smooth operations and user satisfaction by resolving hardware and software issues efficiently.

• Hardware Troubleshooting:

Diagnose and resolve laptop, desktop, peripheral and other miscellaneous hardware devices.

• Software Support : Provide technical assistance with operating systems (Windows 10/11, MacOS), applications, and software installations.

• Device Management : Assist in imaging laptops, desktops, tablets, iPads, and iPhones using InTune and other imaging technologies.

• Basic Network Support:

Troubleshoot network connectivity issues, including VPN connections and internet access.

• User Training:

Educate users on proper computer usage and software applications.

• Remote Support:

Provide remote technical support to users through ticketing systems and remote access tools.

• Problem Resolution:

Document and track technical issues to identify recurring problems and implement solutions.

• IT Projects:

Assist with current projects, activities and day-to-day operations.

• Other Duties:

Perform other duties as assigned or directed.

Environment

Normal office environment.Frequent travel throughout service area.This role involves a combination of desk-based work, remote site visits, and hands-on equipment installationsFrequent use of computer and telephone/cell phone.Occasionally necessary to push/pull, climb, using stairs, step stools for installing computers, monitors, docking stations, etc... and moving equipment.Ability to work effectively in conditions that may sometimes be exposed to dust where ventilation conditions may be difficult such as in basements, or server rooms.Able to occasionally lift/carry up to 60 lbs. unassisted in PC replacements.Requirements

•Combination of education and experience normally represented by an Associate's Degree and/or Certifications, and 3 years on the job experience.

•Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of hire.

•Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

•Working knowledge of basic networking and Windows desktop operating systems.

•Knowledge of Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, and Windows Terminal services.

•Must have a valid Ohio Driver's License, provide a copy of driver's license, and are subject to a Moving Vehicle Report (MVR) check through the Department of Motor Vehicles annually.Any MVR grade of "unacceptable" is not permitted to operate a company vehicle on behalf of Catholic Charities.

•Demonstrated success in working as part of a team.

•Must have competent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills in order to work with a variety of people.

•Must have excellent organizational skills, strong detail orientation and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

•Must have ability to work under pressure and provide pro-active approach to avoiding and solving problems.
