Programmer Analyst

foran immediate contract engagement with our government client.

Work Location: This position is hybrid.

Job Description :

This role serves as a critical connection between technical and business teams, focusing on gathering, analyzing, communicating, and validating requirements for changes to systems, business processes, and policies. The position also involves acting as a senior programmer analyst responsible for the ongoing support of key mainframe applications, particularly those developed using COBOL and XGEN. The individual will also oversee the maintenance of all system documentation to ensure compliance with internal standards and policies.

Responsibilities :Approve project timelines and estimates to align with standard project management methodologies and system engineering practices.Lead meetings to gather requirements for IT solutions, identifying how business processes will be affected and ensuring proper integration.Redesign and approve specifications following test outcomes.Conduct peer and expert reviews to ensure IT solutions meet internal policies, standards, and guidelines.Design and document IT solutions that align with established technology frameworks.Manage changes to production systems, ensuring they follow the proper change management protocols.Oversee the documentation of changes to system designs and architectures.Approve and monitor testing processes, including system integration and user acceptance tests.Identify defects vs. new requirements and initiate changes as needed.Track and resolve issues via a defect log, facilitating ongoing problem resolution.Lead validation activities post-implementation of changes.Monitor and recommend solutions for long-term IT performance and recurring issues.Serve as a liaison between internal teams and external stakeholders regarding application standards and project matters.Actively contribute to the development and execution of IT strategic plans.Maintain clear communication with technical teams, vendors, and stakeholders to track project metrics.Develop disaster recovery plans and oversee their implementation.Assess and communicate potential risks to existing systems due to changes in policies or business processes.Required Skills:•Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as computer science, engineering, or information systems.•A minimum of five years' experience in programming with COBOL or XGEN.•At least five years of experience in requirements gathering.•Three or more years of experience in creating test cases.•Strong verbal and written communication skills.
