Job Summary:

The Center for Local Government Technology (CLGT) provides education, training, research, technical assistance, and customized services to local, state, and tribal governments, and other public and private entities through multiple programs funded by state appropriations, grants, and cooperative agreements.

The CAMA Specialist functions as support staff to the other Specialists within the Computer Assisted Mass Appraisal (CAMA) division. The candidate provides orientation, training and on-going assistance to County Assessors and their deputies in all phases of property appraisal after appropriate training. The candidate attends relevant conferences to make presentations and provide training on property valuations, appraisals, and the CAMA system, and attends professional development training to better serve client base.

The candidate will develop an annual work plan and will discuss and establish annual performance goals and measures with his/her supervisor that are subject to change from year to year. The candidate will be expected to perform other duties as assigned, and when necessary, adjustments will be made to the annual work plan and the performance goals.

Employment for all CLGT employees is contingent upon continuous funding and revenue. Position is home based (not required to report to office on daily basis).

Position requires continual availability by cellular device for program-related business. Due to communication expectations of the position, the incumbent will be required to maintain a cellular or other electronic communication device and reliable internet service.

Requires extensive travel in-state to county government offices, occasional travel out-of-state, occasional necessity to work nights and weekends, and performing duties in excess of 40 hours per week. Expected to represent CLGT and the University at all times when working as a team member and as an individual with professional demeanor and actions. Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds including student manuals and presentation equipment.

Required Qualifications:

High School diploma/GED and one (1) year of prior successful work experience in the areas of government, appraisal or management. Post-secondary education may be substituted for work experience.

Have before hire and maintain after hire a valid driver's license. A valid driver's license must be maintained for the operation of an OSU vehicle, which is required in the performance of job duties as assigned.

Able to travel extensively to consult with County Assessors, and to provide training and technical assistance to CAMA users. Able to communicate to with county officials and public with written information and with multimedia presentations at local, regional, and state conferences, seminars, workshops, and classes. Possess intermediate skills in the use of Microsoft Windows, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel and Adobe Acrobat. Able to operate personal computers, projectors, and other office equipment. Occasional travel with overnight stays ranging from one to five nights each week. Valid driver's license and be able to legally drive passenger cars, light trucks, and vans.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Real Estate, Finance, Business Administration, or another related field and one (1) year in using or training on a CAMA software OR in-lieu of a degree, high school diploma/GED and three (3) years of real estate appraisal experience, of either working in or consulting with a County Assessor's office.
