Student Language Lab Assistant

SummaryThis position supports the language lab manager by assisting students with their Spanish, French, or other language work, coordinating cultural activities, and managing lab hours as needed to align with students' final exam schedules.Essential FunctionsProviding tutoring support with oral and written assignments tailored to students' language proficiency levels, covering all elementary, intermediate, and advanced learners.Assisting the manager in preparing reports and providing timely feedback to the foreign languages faculty.Coordinating cultural activities, such as workshops, film screenings, round tables, board games, brown bag lunch, contests, etc.Assisting the manager in managing social media accounts by creating content, scheduling posts, and engaging with the online community to increase event visibility and participation.Gathering and analyzing feedback from participants to improve future events.Supporting recruitment efforts by attracting new participants and volunteers through targeted social media campaigns.Helping to establish a language club by promoting it and encouraging participation through social media platforms.Managing event registration, tracking attendance and assisting with the setup and teardown of events, ensuring all materials and equipment are in place.Providing on-site support during events to address any issues or needs that arise.Coordinating with vendors and partners for event logistics and supplies.Qualifications/RequirementsPreference will be given to a Barry University student currently seeking a degree in Foreign Languages.Related experience is required.Knowledge of Spanish grammar, rhetoric, idioms, and phonetics is required.Knowledge of Hispanic Cultures is preferred.Scheduled Weekly Hours: 20Benefits: Barry University offers a comprehensive benefits package to full-time employees that includes health, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement, tuition assistance, paid time off and work/life balance initiatives such as wellness programs, spirituality in the workplace, and training and development.Barry University is an Equal Opportunity Employer, committed to a diverse and inclusive work environment.
