Summary
Barry University School of Law seeks IT Student Assistants. These are temporary, part-time positions working up to 20 hours per week. The IT Student Assistant provides technology support for Staff & Students and performs basic computer troubleshooting, printer support. This position also performs checks on public computers and assists our existing point of contact in the Law Library. This position also answers users' inquiries regarding computer software and hardware operation to resolve problems.
Position is for evening coverage: M-Th, 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM
Essential FunctionsAnswer users' inquiries regarding computer software and hardware operation to resolve problemsAssist students with laptop setup and minor problems that relate directly to their success as a studentBasic computer troubleshooting tasksDeliver, setup, troubleshoot, and operate computer projection systems, video systems, and other audiovisual equipmentAssist users in the proper use of hardware and softwarePrepare evaluations of software or hardware and recommend improvements or upgrades to the Lab MachinesAssist IT staff members in daily or special projects as neededQualifications/Requirements
Must be a Barry Law Student in good academic standing1 - 3 years of related experienceAbility to analyze what patrons require from the IT Department or directs them to other departments as requiredAbility to contribute to assigned projects, asking questions as they arise.Ability to answer users' inquiries regarding computer software and hardware operation to resolve problemsMust possess basic computer troubleshooting skillsMust be pleasant and effective in answering telephone and forwarding calls to various staff membersAbility to assist students with laptop setup and minor problems that relate directly to their success as a student.Must communicate with patrons, Library staff, and all constituents effectively and professionally at all times
