Position Type: Classified Staff Date Posted: 10/9/2024 Location: BROAD RIVER ELEMENTARY POSITION PURPOSE: Responsible for the prompt, efficient diagnosis and repair of all District supported computer hardware and associated peripherals for assigned locations. Provides installation, diagnosis and resolution of all approved client software. Assists in the diagnosis and resolution of network hardware and client issues. Understands and assists in the installation of all District supported and approved network premise wiring for Ethernet and Wireless Access Points. This position will be spilt between Broad River Elementary and Port Royal Elementary. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Diagnose, repair and maintain all District support and approved computer systems and associated peripherals for assigned locations. Obtain needed parts and supplies from approved vendor list or district inventories in order to perform diagnosis and repair work. Maintain a running stock of needed parts. Maintain an accurate record, using service tickets, of equipment repaired along with a detailed record of location, cost and time involved in all repairs. Provide installation, diagnosis and resolution for a wide range of District supported software applications, multimedia applications and operating systems in the areas of administration, instructional and media centers. Requires an in-depth knowledge and understanding, with proven efficiency, of various software and multimedia applications, computer platforms and their operating systems. Provide assistance in the diagnosis and resolution of various network hardware related issues. Requires an understanding of various network clients and protocols and the ability to install and configure these various computer systems in a District-approved networked environment. Maintain an accurate inventory of technology hardware and software for assigned locations. Ensure adherence to confidentiality and good safety procedures. Keep supervisor advised of any potential hardware or software problems or conflicts that may have an effect District-wide. Promote and provide positive customer service. ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Technology Services Officer, Superintendent or other district office administrator as designated by the Superintendent. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum high school diploma. Minimum of three (3) years field and bench work in the above mentioned areas. Well developed communication and human relation skills when dealing with technical and non-technical end users/vendors. CompTIA A certification (IT Technician) with experience in the area of computer hardware and Microsoft Windows support In-depth working knowledge of various software applications and operating systems. CompTIA Network certification and experience with Microsoft Windows especially in the areas of workstation configurations. Ability to read, interpret and understand schematics, troubleshooting flow charts and manuals. An understanding of network premise wiring and ANSI/EIA/TIA-568 codes. Ability to communicate and work well in a team environment with co-workers and end users. Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer certification may be substituted for the A and Network certification. EXPERIENCE : Other Skills and Abilities: Adhere to federal, state, and local laws and procedures as required. Understand and follow all District and Technology Services operations, policies, procedures, guidelines and standards. Participate in professional development programs offered to increase skills and proficiency related to assignments. Ability to perform duties in a professional manner. Attend required meetings. Proven oral and written communication skills. Proven ability to work as a member of a dynamic team. Must be able to pass criminal background check.
