The purpose of this position is to assists in the design, implementation, and maintenance of a Geographic Information System (GIS) and related data. The employee in this position performs technical work involving the use of computers and peripheral equipment in performing maintenance, editing, additions and plotting of engineering plans and/or graphics utilizing ACAD-LT software (computerized drafting). Hardcopy produced as a result of same include engineering topographical drawings, plan and profile drawings, cross sections, cadastral or ownership maps, street or right of way maps, and public or private utility maps and miscellaneous graphics. This position also currently utilizes GeoMedia, which is in the process of being converted to ESRI Arc-GIS, to produce various GIS maps. In addition, this position also utilizes board drafting (both pen and ink and drafting pencil) to update existing engineering drawings and unit sheets. Assist the general public, plumbers, contractors, architects, engineers, field crews, etc. with sewer clean out locations and sewer house connection locations as well as with drain line and water line sizes and locations. Performs related duties as required.Minimum Qualifications For Admission to Examination

Meets one of the following three options:

I. Possession of an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in Geographic Information Science (GIS) or a related field with at least fifteen (15) credit hours focusing on GIS.

ORII. Successful completion of at least six (6) credit hours of coursework focusing on GIS at an accredited college or university; plus, sufficient paid work experience involving use of ESRI-based GIS software.ORIII. Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent certificate; plus, significant paid work experience involving use of ESRI-based GIS software.

Related education, experience, and/or professional certification(s) above and beyond the minimum qualifications will be required for consideration of an entrance salary above the minimum rate.Kind of Examination

The examination may consist of a written test, a rating of training and experience, an oral panel interview or any combination thereof. RetirementMost regular employees belong to the Parochial Employees' RetirementSystem instead of the Social Security System. For employees hired afterJanuary 01, 2007, a pension calculated at 3% of salary per year of serviceis provided upon retirement at age 67 with 7 years of service, age 62 with10 years of service, or age 55 with 30 years of service.

Tenure PaymentEmployees are paid $25 per year of service in December of each year.Employees must have worked two years before the first check is paid.

Deferred Compensation Plan(457b plan)Similar to 401K programs, the 457b Deferred Plan allows employees to deferup to $14,000 of pretax income each year to supplement retirement savings.Pre-tax contributions can be cashed in upon retirement or termination withoutpenalty. This plan is provided by Nationwide Retirement Solutions 1-877-677-3678.

Special leaves of absence for military service, maternity leave, etc.may be granted in accordance with the Personnel Rules.
