Job ResponsibilitiesParticipate in the admission process of prospective residents in terms of their nursing needs and appropriate placementDetermine potential Resource Utilization Groups (RUGs) and expense associated with a potential admissionReview all applications for admission, followed by on-site or phone assessment and communicate results of assessment to the Admissions DirectorComplete and assure the accuracy of the MDS process for all residentsMaintain current working knowledge of Medicare criteria, serving as a resource for nursing staff and communicate changes in regulationsMonitor Case Mix Index (CMI) scores, looking for potential risks and/or changes that may affect Medicaid reimbursementFacilitate problem-solving for complicated admissionsMonitor Medicare assessment schedules and nursing documentation to ensure accuracy and timely submissionJob Requirements
2-years experience in MDS coordinator role or related experienceCurrent and valid state nursing licenseExperience in a clinical or skilled nursing facility settingDeep medical terminology knowledgeDemonstrable knowledge of state and federal regulationsProficiency in MDS 3.0
