Description

Job Purpose / Summary:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring that financial statements are in line with owner's requirements and industry standards. Working under the direction of the assistant controller, the Senior Accountant reviews the financial reports to assure that they meet standard accounting principles, state and federal regulations and government policies. This position oversees the accounting team and assures they are keeping up with their individual responsibilities.

Role and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Oversee the accounting team's day-to-day activitiesAudits monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements to ensure that all accounting transactions are processed accurately and in compliance with industry standardsPrepares monthly journal entriesReview financials for budget variances and balance sheet anomaliesMaintain Excel spreadsheets to assist auditors in the year-end audit processAssists with the financial planning, forecasting and budgeting processesOversee the Properties' year-end audits and liaison with the independent auditorsWork interdepartmentally to achieve the overall goals of the companyLiaison with outside owners, asset managers and government oversight agenciesAssists executive team with a variety of tasks as neededTraining of accounting staff to ensure they are ready for advancement to higher positions

Pay: $70,000-80,000 per year

Position Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

Minimum of 3 years accounting experience; public accounting and business experience preferredBA/BS in accountingCPA or an MBA is a plusStrong knowledge in Account Reconciliation, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable. Payroll Processes knowledge is a plus.Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational and time management skillsTechnical and comprehensive knowledge of all finance, financial planning, and accounting areas of a business including an excellent understanding of GAAPReal Estate experience a must, and affordable housing experience a plusYardi Software experience preferredExcellent computer skills including all MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) requiredDemonstrated professional demeanor, and the ability to maintain confidential information
