Description

The Assistant Controller is responsible for ensuring that financial statements are in line with owner's requirements and industry standards. Working under the direction of the controller, the assistant controller oversees the accountants and reviews the financial statements to assure that they meet standard accounting principles, state and federal regulations and government policies. They also assist with the development of financial accounting systems required to maintain reporting requirements.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesMaintaining the Company's financial policies and procedures by providing operational oversight to the accountants, and assist with the budgeting functionSupervises subordinate personnel in the accounting departmentAssists with all accounting functions including, but not limited to, General Ledger, Payroll, Accounts Payable and Accounts ReceivablePrepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and analyze the financial resultsSupervises the preparation of monthly journal entriesPerforming non-full disclosure accounting procedures for clients, including compiling monthly financial statements, A/R, A/P, time billing, P/R, G/L, tax payments, and inventory controlHelp in development of reports for management or regulatory bodiesAssists with the financial planning, forecasting and budgeting processAssist with the Properties' year-end audits and liaison with the independent auditorsAudits work flow to ensure that all accounting transactions are processed accurately and in compliance with industry standardsAssist in the formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with legislation and established best practicesStays current with new regulations and industry pronunciationsWork with other departments within the organization to achieve the overall goals of the companyAssists Controller with a variety of tasksRemaining abreast of tax law, and corresponding with federal, state, and local tax agencies on behalf of clientsConsulting with clients regarding tax planningEstablishing and maintaining a positive working relationship with clients, agencies, and coworkers to promote a quality service imageContacting clients frequently to obtain required accounting dataResearching and resolving accounting-related questions, concerns, and problems for clients in a friendly and timely mannerAssisting clients with other special Accounting projects from time to timeParticipating in conducting training sessionsPerforming other duties as assignedPay: $80,000 - $85,000 per year

Position Requirements

Job Requirements:

Minimum of 5 years accounting experience with at least two years in a managerial role; public accounting and business experience preferredBA/BS in accountingCPA or an MBA is a plusStrong knowledge in Account Reconciliation, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll Processes, etc.Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational and time management skillsTechnical and comprehensive knowledge of all finance, financial planning, and accounting areas of a business including an excellent understanding of GAAPReal Estate experience a mustYardi Software experience preferredExcellent computer skills including all MS Office applications. (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) requiredDemonstrated professional demeanor, and the ability to maintain confidential informationAbility to work independently and exercise sound judgment and problem solvingCOVID Vaccination Policy
