Certification Details ER nurses will take ER holds Stroke Certified hospital Job Details A hospital in California is looking for an experienced ER nurse for a travel contract. The right candidate will have 2 full years of experience, hold an active BLS, ACLS, NIH and CA License. Job Requirements 2 full years of experience Hold an active BLS, ACLS, NIH and CA License Strong, thorough documentation skills Schedule Information Contract length: 13 weeks Shifts: Days 7a - 7:30p; Mids 11a-11:30p, 12p-12:30a, or 2p-2:30a; Nights 7p-7:30a. Floor specific orientation: Up to 6 shifts with a preceptor Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend Holidays: 2 out of 3 holidays Unit Specific Information Unit: ER Beds: 33 Total patient care rooms. 25 with cardiac monitors that can be used for everything Triage area with Midlevel's & RNS or LVNS Ratios: 1 to 4, average of 210 patients Charge nurse available 24/7 Nurse Aides: ER Techs with EMT, MA, or CNA experience for tech duties & EKGs Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend Holidays: Work 2 out of 3 major holidays Additional Notes: Base hospital for EMS, board patients when necessary, ER nurses take ER holds, hospital follows EMTALA Additional Details No first time travelers as of 2/19/2024 Please make sure traveler is ready to accept if offered High volume of backouts & declined offers EMR: Cerner experience preferred Charge Nurse: Charge nurse 24/7 Nurse Aides: ER Techs with EMT, MA, or CNA experience Scrub Color: Navy blue Tele: GE. Have central monitor station on both nurses' stations Vents: Per RT Hospitalist or Intensivist in house: Up to 5 Physicians & 3 midlevel's at a time IV Team: No RT 24/7: Yes Pharmacy 24/7: Yes & Omnicell Floating: No floating outside of the ER Common diagnosis / Types of patients: Routine/typical ER patients; however they send out STEMIs, hemorrhagic strokes & peds Additional Notes: Stroke Certified hospital, base hospital for EMS, board patients when necessary, must take ER holds, follows EMTALA (Emergency Medical Treatment & Labor Act)
