Job Title: Registered Nurse - Psychiatric Float Pool (Nights) Job Specialty: RN Psych Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00 PM - 07:30 AM, including every other weekend (EOW) Guaranteed Hours: Not specified Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Massachusetts RN License Certifications: AHA BLS, Certification in De-escalation Must-Have: - Knowledge of the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health rules and regulations - Trauma-informed care skills - Patient-centered approach - Proficiency in electronic health records documentation, preferably EPIC - Proficiency in the use of psychotropic medications and knowledge of side effects - Ability to assume the role of charge nurse - Competence in IV pump use and diabetic patient care Job Description: - Float to various mental health units throughout the hospital, including pediatrics, adult, and geriatric psychiatry - Engage with patients suffering from a diverse range of mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, and dual diagnosis patients undergoing detoxification - Include care for some medically acute patients requiring IVs, CPAPs, wound care, and diabetic care - Handle admissions and discharges - Use and manage automatic medication dispensing systems (Omni Cell) - Maintain a clinician-to-patient ratio of 1:3 in pediatrics and 1:7 or 8 in adult and geriatric psych units - Complete AVADE training and optional lead EKG training offered on-site This role involves floating to all behavioral health areas within specific units, with rotating shifts for the day but permanent night shifts.
