Certification Details Certification Requirements: ACLS and BCLS Job Details Effective 11/30/24, IU Health will not allow IN RN’s to work at their facilities (SEE EXCEPTIONS BELOW). The last day for IN RNs to start a NEW contract is 9/9 (allows them to finish a contract by 11/30). Periop/OR RN’s, Allied and Ambulatory RN travelers are exempt from this rule. These IN travelers are allowed to work past the 11/30 deadline. Periop includes ENDO, IR RN, PACU, Cath Lab RN, SDS Travelers are required to work 2 of the 3 holidays that fall within their contract (or a majority if there are 4 holidays). Holidays include- Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve/Day and New Years Eve/Day First Time Travelers Accepted Shift Requirements: 4x12 or 3x12 Staffing Ratios: 1:4 Unit Information: Surgical PCU- almost ICU level acuity- ENT (Neck dissections, Mandibulectomy), Thoracic (Esophagectomy, Lobectomy, Pneumonectomy), General Surg. (Pancreatic, Bowel/ liver resections), Urology (Urinary diversions, cystectomies, RPLND), Medical overflow Job Requirements Skillset Requirements: Minimum 2 years experience Proficient in cardiac monitoring- on unit monitoring Management of chest tubes Fresh trachs Feeding tube care and management Care of post of patients Epidurals Management of non-titratable cardiac drips IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips External BiPAP/CPAP Total laryngectomy Doppler flap checks Schedule Information Travelers are expected to work every other week per their contract. Pending operational needs, consecutive weekends may be needed based on the greatest need Call-Ins: If a traveler call-ins for a contracted shift, the traveler is expected to 1) make up the day during the pay period, if a 0.9 FTE. OR 2) if a 0.9 FTE and unable to make up during the pay period, then the shift will be added at the end of the traveler contract 3) If a 1.2 FTE, any call-in shifts will be added to the end of the contract Charge coverage: Pending operational needs, unit charge nurse responsibilities may be needed with provided training and resources. Unit Specific Information Floating Requirements: Unit travelers may be expected to float to different levels of care (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU) with resources provided if needed at both University and Methodist Hospitals Additional Details Valid Driver’s License or Passport accepted. Must be clear copy. Online Verification of License to include expiration date and any disciplinary actions (within 30 days before start date). Must be through primary source. IN.gov.
