Job Summary: The Office of Informatics and Information Technology is seeking an outstanding DevOps Engineer to contribute to its growing Azure Platform and support its infrastructure growth. This position will report to the Cloud Infrastructure Manager. The DevOps Engineer will be responsible for the deployment, modification, and configuration of existing open-source software tools to improve access to data. The DevOps Engineer will also be accountable for introducing processes, tools, and methodologies that support the needs of the software development lifecycle, from coding and deployment to maintenance and updates. The incumbent will demonstrate their experience as a seasoned DevOps Engineer by implementing continuous integration and continuous delivery of pipelines through various tools such as Terraform and Ansible. As a key member of the integrated application development team, the role of the DevOps Engineer will be responsible for troubleshooting issues that arise, configuring logging & alerting mechanisms, and engineering solutions for complex infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will have a solid work ethic and bring an enthusiastic and professional attitude to the workplace. This position is funded by the UW Institute for Clinical and Translational Research and the Clinical and Translational Science Award and contributes to the informatics of the project. For more information on diversity and inclusion on campus, please visit: Diversity and Inclusion Education: Preferred Bachelor's Degree Qualifications: Required: - 2 years of professional work experience as a DevOps Engineer - 2 years of cloud infrastructure development or work - 2 years of professional work experience developing software - Excellent verbal and written communication skills Preferred Experience: - 2 years with both object-oriented programming (OOP) and scripting languages - 1 year with Azure and Azure App Service - 1 year automating build, test, and deployment processes using tools like Terraform and Ansible - 2 years in Agile or iterative work planning Preferred Technical Proficiency: - Proficiency with Java and experience with Java web applications, including application servers such as TomCat - Proficiency in containerizing applications - Understanding of Kubernetes concepts and experience with deploying and managing applications on Kubernetes clusters - Familiarity with monitoring tools like Prometheus and Grafana - Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines - Knowledge of GitLab tools and the ability to leverage them to implement robust DevOps lifecycles Work Type: Full Time: 100% It is anticipated this position will be remote and requires work be performed at an offsite, non-campus work location. An on campus location will be provided should a candidate prefer to work partially or fully onsite. Appointment Type, Duration: Terminal, 24 month appointment. This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding Salary: Minimum $100,000 ANNUAL (12 months) Depending on Qualifications The starting salary for the DevOps Engineer I is $100,000 but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications. The starting salary for the DevOps Engineer II is $110,000 but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
