Lynntech is seeking an experienced electronics engineer with technical leadership and mentoring experience in hardware and firmware development to join our team. This position will commonly be engaged in the following activities as an individual contributor and as a technical mentor and design team lead to junior engineers:
Developing system schematics to handle power management, signal processing, controls, etc.Designing custom printed circuit boards for analog and digital applicationsTesting and verification of custom circuit board designsCreating custom firmware implementations on a variety of platforms for implementation into advanced test fixtures, prototype designs, and marketable products
Producing and maintaining project documentation related to software, firmware, and hardware systemsPlanning and execution of preliminary and critical design reviews, and associated design review documentationThe candidate will need a verifiable background of technology development, design work, systems engineering and leadership with at least 6-8 years (prefer 8-10 years) of relevant experience. Strong fundamentals in electrical, electronics, and software engineering with the ability to review and provide feedback on peers' designs, as well as develop your own designsExperience in developing system and subsystem architectures in the areas of system control, power distribution, and embedded systems based on top-level product requirements and technology constraintsAbility to mentor a team of junior engineers, and autonomously facilitate design decisions in a collaborative environmentBasic knowledge of systems engineering and the ability to interface with various teams within the technology-to-product development lifecycle including scientific personnel, CAD, mechanical engineers, instrumentation, control, machining and fabrication, and system assembly and testingExperience with electronics engineering design, embedded microcontroller programming, FPGA development, or similar relevant education and experienceProgramming experience in C/C++, VHDL, Microsoft Visual Studio Visual C++, C#, and Visual BasicKnowledge and experience in PCB design methods and tools such as Altium DesignerSPICE modeling applied to analog and digital circuit developmentKnowledge and experience in power supply design, embedded processor solutions, filtering, and data acquisition development (A/D and D/A conversion)Knowledge of various communication protocols such as USB, CAN, and TCP/IPExperience in troubleshooting of complex embedded systemsHardware development (schematics, layout, test) (analog and digital design) (Altium)Firmware development (microcontrollers such as the PIC32 or MSP430)Software development (Visual Studio for primarily in-house GUI application to run and monitor test stands)The preferred candidate is anticipated to have the following qualifications.
Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field with at least 8 years of progressively complex engineering experience (or Masters Degree with at least 7 years experience)Strong technical writing, speaking, and presentation skillsAbility to work in a multi-disciplinary environment involving close interaction with other engineers and non-engineering technical staffMust be a US Citizen, or Permanent Resident, to meet contract requirements
