Position Type: Technology/Network Specialist Date Posted: 9/19/2024 Location: District-wide Date Available: 10/21/2024 Closing Date: 09/27/2024 Job Title: Senior Network Specialist Location: Windsor Public Schools, Windsor, CT Job Type: Full-Time Overview: Windsor Public Schools is seeking an experienced Senior Network Specialist to manage and maintain the district's network infrastructure. The Senior Network Specialist will be responsible for ensuring the security, performance, and reliability of network systems that support both instructional and administrative functions across multiple school sites. Key Responsibilities: Network Management: Administer and maintain the district's network infrastructure, including LAN/WAN, firewalls, routers, switches, and wireless systems. Server Management: Deploy and maintain Windows Server environments, including Active Directory administration. Security Operations: Implement and manage network security solutions, including firewalls, antivirus software, and vulnerability assessments, to protect against external and internal threats. Technical Support: Provide tier 2 and 3 support for escalated network, server, and system issues, working closely with the IT support team to resolve problems quickly and efficiently. Data Protection: Ensure data backups, replication, and disaster recovery systems are functional and reliable. VoIP Management: Maintain the district's VoIP phone system, including setup, configuration, and troubleshooting. Performance Monitoring: Monitor network performance and ensure the availability of resources by proactively identifying and addressing potential issues. Project Leadership: Assist in network upgrade projects, providing technical guidance and implementation expertise. Documentation: Maintain accurate network diagrams, documentation, and configurations for all network and server infrastructure. Required Qualifications: 10 years of experience in network administration and infrastructure management. Strong knowledge of Windows Server environments, Active Directory and network protocols (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS). Experience with Aruba networking equipment, including ClearPass. Security expertise, including firewall administration, antivirus management, and vulnerability scanning. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues. Certifications: Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), CompTIA Network, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), or similar. Preferred Skills: Experience in K-12 educational environments. Familiarity with Mac OS and its integration in a Windows network. Knowledge of Citrix, VMware, and other virtualization technologies. Equipment Uses standard office equipment such as personal computer, scanner, copy machine, fax machine, telephone.
