Department OverviewThe CommandCentral software team helps solve for safer by focusing on building public safety solutions that combine the capabilities of the entire software suite into a single, user-centric workflow, enabling public safety agencies to efficiently manage data across their operations.Job Description The product owner is responsible for the ownership and managing of the backlog for their assigned value stream(s), contributes to the product roadmap, understands customer and market needs for the CommandCentral RMS products. The product owner works in partnership with the product manager and relies on their technical knowledge and background to define user stories and acceptance criteria, engage with assigned Engineering teams, and groom the backlog. The ability to deeply understand technical architecture, define engineering behind features, and to translate high level customer functional requirements into technical for development is a crucial skill. In addition, the ability to describe the impact of technical requirements to customers, non-technical sales, and support resources is a must. This position will be responsible for filling the agile product owner role for the CommandCentral RMS products. In this role, the product owner champions the need of the user, customer, and other stakeholders throughout the development process to ensure that what is delivered meets the goals, objectives, and desired outcomes of the project. To be successful, one must manage multiple projects simultaneously, at various stages of their development, from idea to completed feature. Responsibilities Develop strong relationships with UI/UX teams and work in close partnership with research and design colleagues Actively involved in initiative and epic refinement as an integral member of the Product Management team Responsible for building, editing, and maintaining the team backlog, including user stories, defects, and research spikes Review and prioritize the backlog as part of the preparatory work for release and sprint planning, including coordination of dependencies with other POs Contribute to the roadmap Involved in release planning, reviewing vision, and content presentations to assigned engineering team(s) Collaborate with team to detail user stories with acceptance criteria Maintain proper flow of features, user stories, and acceptance criteria in the backlog Agree on accepted story completion, including validating that the story meets acceptance criteria and that it complies with the Definition of Done (DoD) Understand the scope of needed research spikes and collaborate with Engineering to assist with decision-making and sequencing of the critical technological infrastructures Collaborate with team and any other stakeholders in the team demo Lead and participate in the appropriate agile ceremonies Desired Skills Agile/Scrum experience Firm understanding of software design, user interaction, and user interface design Deep technical knowledge in software development methodologies Experience utilizing product and project management tools such as Aha, Jira, and DevOps Technical skills and knowledge of cloud services and development Align with the enhanced focus on prioritizing and developing important aspects of mission critical products, such as availability, reliability, and stability Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written Polished presentation skills for internal and external audiences Proactive, enthusiastic attitude toward challenging problems Capable of quickly evaluating and prioritizing new projects alongside customer feedback Strong ability to take complex user requirements and distill them into a format that is intuitive and clear to developers as well as non-technical staff Ability to research and analyze project requirements from various stakeholders Build consensus among stakeholders Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team spread across multiple continents in a fast-moving environment Ability to multi-task among various assignments Experience within the Public Safety industry is a plus Understanding of product management and product ownership principles LI-RS1 LI-Remote Basic Requirements Bachelor's Degree 4 years of progressive experience in business analysis, product ownership, product planning, product management, or public safety This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers Travel RequirementsUnder 10%Relocation ProvidedNonePosition TypeExperiencedReferral Payment PlanYes Our U.S.Benefitsinclude: Incentive Bonus Plans Medical, Dental, Visionbenefits 401K with Company Match 10 Paid Holidays GenerousPaidTime Off Packages Employee Stock Purchase Plan PaidParental & Family Leave and more EEO Statement Motorola Solutions is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
