Peoplelink Staffing Solutions has partnered with a prominent client located in Kentwood, MI. They are seeking someone for their MIG/TIG Welder Structure role.

This position fabricates and builds the test chamber's structural frame through following blueprints/mechanical engineering drawings. This position uses raw steel to MIG weld a structural steel frame per specs.

This is a temp-to-hire Full-time position.A resume required showing experience in the field or relatedMust have own welding helmetWill be required to conduct a welding test

1st shift Monday through FridayStarting pay: $20-$22/hr depending on experience

Duties and ResponsibilitiesEntry Level I•Reads tape measure easily•Fabricates by welding sheet metal and structural steel to correct dimensions under proper supervision•Uses math functions accurately-multiplication, division, conversion of decimals to fractions•Fabricates welded sheet metal parts and structural steel frames to the correct dimensions per print from a collection of prints in a job work folder•Grinds all outside welds smooth in preparation for a finish paint part•Reads blueprints/mechanical engineering drawings•Lays out holes to proper dimensions per prints•Demonstrates knowledge of MIG welding applications•Maintains welderLevel II•Level I functions•Establishes cut list for raw materials with proper supervision•Ensures proper identification of all raw materials with job, work order, and E.S. number before going to paint•Orders raw materials for Weld Department when knowing the proper job is scheduled with proper supervision•Assists Department Lead in the daily operation of the department•Reads, understands, and interprets parts lists and mechanical engineering drawings•Assists in assigning daily work tasks for other employees•Performs all Weld job functions•Ensures the identification of raw finished parts before going to paint•Assists in training other employees•Orders raw materials for the weld departmentLevel III•Level I and II functions•Initiates Engineering Change Notices•Assists with notifying Purchasing Department when raw materials are needed•Assists with requests for Engineering changes•Authorizes emergency parts and print changes to ensure a reasonable workflow•Performs minor machine maintenance and repairsLevel IV•Level I, II, III functions•Screens prints from Engineering Department•Establishes cut list for the cutting of raw materials•Performs all tasks in Weld Department•Coordinates the flow of finished parts and finished assemblies•Trains employees•Maintains machines

Qualifications•Possession of High School Diploma or GED•Task oriented•MIG/TIG welding fabrication experience on structural steel and sheet metal•Preferred: previous experience working in a manufacturing environment•Good math skills with ability to convert decimals to fractions•Demonstrated ability to follow procedures•Accuracy in reading a tape measure •Ability to read, understand parts list and fill out quality check sheets•Ability to read and understand blueprints/mechanical engineering drawings•Current, Valid Driver's License is Required Working Conditions Mostly standing work.

Continuously lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds. Frequently lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. Occasionally lifting and carrying up to 100 lbs. (Lifting more than 50 lbs overhead must be performed by using mechanical aids; if mechanical aids are not available, the lift will be performed by two employees in a team lift.) Detailed work with hands; fine work and simple grasping. Position may involve bending, squatting, climbing, reaching, and kneeling with occasional crawling and twisting. Periodic travel may be involved. As needed, will work at a desk and a computer screen for extended periods. Must be able to manually enter data into the computer system and understand the screen and images that appear.
