Yes Position Purpose: To support research programming and analytic activities for principal investigators and their project teams at The Dartmouth Institute using administrative claims datasets and other supporting data that will eventually lead to the publication of health services and economics research work, presentations, and grant proposals.

Description: The Research Programmer/Analyst II will join The Dartmouth Institute's Center on Health Economics and Policy team using large claims datasets, surveys, and electronic health record data to study how patients use and pay for health care. We seek applicants with experience working with large datasets to join a team implementing economic analyses to inform policy-relevant research.

Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp:

Bachelors plus 3-5 years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field. 3-5 years of experience in programming/analytics or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated experience writing algorithms and implementing statistical methods to structured data. Professional experience with SAS , R, and STATA statistical software. Experience with medical claims datasets. Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree preferred. Two years of experience in a research setting. Two years of experience in a technical leadership or mentorship role. Experience working with medical claims data in CMS's Virtual Research Data Center ( VRDC ). Experience with Python, Java, or similar. Key Accountabilities

Description: Programming/Analytics:

Under the direction of the research project team, identifies appropriate data sources, extracts, merges, transforms, and manipulates dataset structure for optimum analytic structure following programming/analytic specifications.

Percentage Of Time:

60% Description: Technical Documentation:

Using GIT ensures consistent source code documentation with logical comments, naming conventions, structure, and organization.

Percentage Of Time:

15% Description: Independently summarizes and delivers results of data linkage activities to the research team(s) in readable, presentation-ready reports, including inclusion/exclusion criteria applied to extracted/combined datasets, flowcharting datasets used to develop extracts, and other requested summaries.

Percentage Of Time:

15% Description: Under the direction of the research project team: Communicates proactively, obtaining agreement with the research team on any and all data/research method decisions before implementation and tracking consistently within technical documentation.

Percentage Of Time:

5% Description: May participate in preparing written grant proposals, research reports, scientific presentations, and published articles.
