The Role The Network Implementation Engineer III role on Lumen's Fiber Quality Assurance (FQA) team performs fiber test results analysis for DWDM system deployment, Dark Fiber customer contracts, and New Construction. Results review is meticulous, technically complex, and requires mature critical thinking skills. The candidate, if selected, will be part of a six-member team including the Lead Engineer. Due to the subject matter and work assignments the candidate must be trainable, adaptable, and able to work independently or within a team. Prefer notable experience using OTDR, power meter, & fiber characterization test equipment with the ability to analyze test results, troubleshoot out-of-spec issues, and make recommendations to Field teams for repairs. The candidate must be able to visualize the components of the fiber under test, issues found, necessary repair actions, and convey these both in written and verbal form. The candidate, if selected, will train until ready and then given daily work tasks, projects, and ongoing responsibilities within the FQA team. Must possess consistent and accurate mathematical, professional written and verbal communication skills. Maintain positive interaction with Internal and External customers and maintain open conversation with all company departments and customers. Location and Schedule + WFH (Work from Home) - US + Monday through Friday 8AM-5PM based off your time zone The Main Responsibilities Network Implementation Engineer III for Lumen's Fiber Quality Assurance (FQA) team. + Elevated proficiency with OTDR testing and results analysis, EXFO FastReporter 3 post-analysis software, MS Excel, fiber network construction, and comprehending contract specifications. + Lead complex fiber analysis projects; new construction, dark fiber product, fiber characterization for new DWDM systems. + Train and assist Engineers and Field teams on Lumen fiber test methods and analysis. + Collaborate with internal teams on projects, fiber performance, contract specifications, and network recommendations. + Analyze OTDR & Power meter test results, troubleshoot issues found, and recommend fix actions for Field teams. + Ensure FQA team service level agreements & metrics are meeting 90% on time performance (OTP). + Partner with senior FQA Engineers internal Architecture and Engineering teams to ensure Lumen's network standards are met. What We Look For in a Candidate Required + 8+ years related experience in telecommunications, engineering, or network planning or equivalent. + Knowledgeable and able to work in appropriate systems and Microsoft Office. + Work with Planning, Operations, and all internal and external customers. + Maintain positive interaction between all governing authorities. + Excellent oral and written communication skills. + Assoc degree or equivalent education and/or relevant experience. Preferred + Fluent on current approved products and technology. Compensation The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications. Location Based Pay Ranges $63980 - $85300 in these states: AR, ID, KY, LA, ME, MS, NE, SC, and SD. $67340 - $89780 in these states: AZ, AL, FL, GA, IN, IA, KS, MO, MT, NM, ND, OH, OK, PA, TN, UT, VT, WV, WI, and WY. $70710 - $94270 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NV, NH, NC, OR, and RI. $74070 - $98760 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DE, DC, IL, MD, MA, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA. As with the pay range variety that's based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.
