**Job Title:** Registered Nurse - SICU
**Job Specialty:** Surgical Intensive Care Unit
**Job Duration:** 13 weeks
**Shift:** Night Shift - 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:00)
**Guaranteed Hours:** Per facility standard
**Experience:** Minimum 2 years as RN, 1 year of travel nursing required
**License:** Valid KY or Compact license
**Certifications:** BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (American Heart Association only)
**Must-Have:**- Experience with vascular surgery and cardiac populations- Experience with AAA repair, carotid endarterectomy, fem-pop bypass, and similar surgeries- Experience with carotids, pneumonectomy, and post-thoracic surgery- Experience with EVAR, intra-aortic balloon pump, and TAVR- Familiarity with stroke signs/symptoms competency and bedside dysphagia screening- Experience working in a certified stroke center critical care unit preferred- Meditech EMR experience preferred, required in emergencies
**Job Description:**- Work in a mixed acuity unit, caring for patients with varying levels of acuity- Nurse-to-patient ratios range from 1:2-3 for unit patients to 1:4-5 for step-down acuity- Required to float within scope to meet facility needs- Weekend work required every other weekend- Orientations start every Monday- Must be familiar with current stroke guidelines and performance measures for acute ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes
