Job DetailsThe city of Chico has attractions for everyone. It is a college town with a population of over 100,000 and another 100,000 in the immediate surrounding area. It maintains a special sense of community and small-town living as it has developed into a vibrant regional center for business, recreation, and cultural activities. There are also many recreational opportunities in and around Chico. Bidwell Park, one of the largest municipally owned parks in the nation, is the focal point of the City’s park system and offers numerous trails for biking, hiking, and equestrian use. Sacramento is a short one-and-a-half-hour drive, while Lake Tahoe and San Francisco can be reached within three hours.
Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive eye and vision tests to detect vision abnormalities and eye diseases.
- Prescribe corrective lenses and eyeglasses as per patients' needs.
- Provide pre- and post-operative care to patients undergoing eye surgeries.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated and integrated care to patients.
- Educate patients on proper eye care and hygiene to prevent eye diseases and vision problems.
- Maintain up-to-date records of patients' eye conditions, treatments, and care.
- Stay abreast with the latest advancements in optometry and the medical industry.
- Participate in regular staff meetings and contribute to the development and implementation of strategic plans to improve eye care services.
- Use problem-solving and analytical skills to diagnose complex visual problems and develop effective treatment plans.
- Utilize excellent time management skills to manage patient appointments and provide timely care.
Qualifications:
- Licensed Optometrist.
- Licensed to practice optometry in the state.
- Strong decision-making skills and the ability to make judgments about the appropriate care for patients.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to diagnose and treat eye conditions and diseases.
- Exceptional time management skills to handle a high volume of patients efficiently and effectively.
- Proficient hard skills, including the use of optometry tools and equipment, as well as the ability to perform eye exams and interpret results.
- Strong language skills to communicate effectively with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals.
- Commitment to providing patient-centered care and adhering to medical ethics.
- Ability to stay updated with the latest research and advancements in optometry.
