Job DescriptionCSI Recruiting is working with one of the country's leading upstream oil & gas firms on their immediate need for an experienced Land Analyst to work in their Houston office. The Land Analyst will be responsible for handling the firm's complex matters in land and land administration. The role reviews and analyzes oil and gas leases, exploration and production contracts, and related title and ownership documents to ensure proper maintenance of these assets, enters data into the company's lease and contract systems to maintain land records and contractual obligations, and maintains related digital files. The Land Analyst supports landmen in moderately complex matters including the preparation of oil and gas contracts, processing of oil and gas leases, and correspondence. The Land Analyst is responsible for the processing, routing, and monitoring of AFEs and associated ballots, and communicating associated interest calculations and changes.

LOCATION:This role is based in Houston, TX. Hybrid work schedule is an option for remote work on Mondays and Fridays.

Requirements

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's Degree in Energy Management, Management Information Systems, Business Administration with a focus on Land Management or any other related discipline and/or commensurate work experience is required.

EXPERIENCE:

3-5+ years of experience supporting petroleum land operations within an active E&P company, preferably in areas such as Land Administration, Land Management, Title and Ownership Verification, or a related field. Industry experience is preferred.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Review and analyze new leases and contracts for input in the computer system and prepare and maintain lease and contract files, including updating with any new information or corrections.Review and update records affected by well completions or well status changes, analyze correspondence, title change documents, and title opinions, coordinate with land and division order departments on any interest changes in leases and wells and utilize and assist in development of innovative tools to improve data quality and create efficiencies.Assist in the review of monthly lease obligations and expirations and maintain records containing original leases, contracts, documents, maps, receipts, and related correspondence.Work under general supervision, actively participate in change efforts, and establish influential relationships with internal and external stakeholders, cultivating effective working connections.Develop an understanding of business acumen, recommend modifications, and communicate effectively, sharing knowledge and actively identifying opportunities for data quality improvement.Prepare proposal letters on well operations, form transmittals, check requests, oil and gas leases, assignments, releases of leases, right of ways, and other associated contracts and monitor proposals, AFE spending, lease acreage and related bonus, brokerage and other costs.Set up drafts for payment for new lease purchases, review invoices and coding to appropriate AFE, and research and correspond to inquiries from working interest or royalty/surface owners or inquiries regarding broker billings and invoicing.Evaluate and recommend solutions independently, assess land analysis-specific risks, and demonstrate the ability to prioritize and complete assignments, contributing to collaborative, goal-oriented team efforts.COMPETENCIES & SKILLS REQUIRED:
