JOB DESCRIPTION
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
1. Accounting Support and Review• Review weekly accounts payables runs• Review account balance reconciliations, journal entries, and audit workpapers.• Provide oversight and supervision for fixed assets, investments, bankreconciliations, allocations, and various receivables and payables.• Coordinate the annual financial statements audit. Prepare company and Foundation Form990s and state filings. Serve as liaison to external audit/tax firm.• Prepare monthly financial statements, including variance analysis, for submission to theBoard of Directors and the Finance, Audit and Compliance Committee (FACC).• Provide year-end accounting for company including donated goods and services and grantcommitments.• Prepare audit reports including the functional expense report and various supportingschedules for the audit footnotes.• Perform corporate projects such as, but not limited to, requests for proposals for bankingand external auditors, accounting and tax research, updates on GAAP and GAAS,surveys, and policy and procedure updates.• Ensure the month-end and year-end are closed within a timely manner.
2. Grant Accounting• Provide accounting and financial oversight for federal and non-federal grants.• Provide accounting assistance with grant applications.• Process grants by (1) reviewing grant documentation including application, budget,award letter(s), specific grant requirements, etc. and (2) communicating with grantmanager and other parties as appropriate.• Research and review OMB circulars and other regulations associated with federal andnon-federal funding to ensure compliance with federal and state requirements.• Maintain finance/accounting infrastructure and processes necessary for ongoing grantmonitoring/reporting, including preparation and application of approved federal indirectcost rate.• Provide training and technical support related to grants, including maintenance of grantpolicies/procedures, providing sub-recipient training, acting as a resource to grantmanagers and other departments, agency partners and sub-recipients related tocompliance requirements.• Provide ongoing grant monitoring/reporting in compliance with grant requirementsincluding drawdowns, review of budget vs. actual expenditures, non-federal matches,sub-recipient monitoring, and formal grant reporting to funders as required.• Coordinate the A-133 and other audit requirements.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: There are two direct reports.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:• Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent.• Five years' experience in accounting is required.• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and generally acceptedauditing standards (GAAS)• Knowledge of not-for-profit accounting preferred.• Proficiency in basic Microsoft Word and intermediate Excel.• Minimum two-three years' management experience required.

Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to:
the individual's skill sets, experience and training;licensure and certification requirements;office location and other geographic considerations;other business and organizational needs.
With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
