- In-depth knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid Governmental Benefits & Regulations
- Strong understanding of medical insurance coverage policies
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum of 3 years of prior experience in Physician Billing, including carrier follow-up
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations
- Proficient in both written and oral communication
- Strong computer literacy, including the ability to work with relevant billing software
- Ability to prioritize tasks, multi-task, and maintain strong organizational and analytical skills
- Capable of working independently while also accepting direction when necessary
- Active participation in educational activities, including seminars and webinars
- Excellent communication, documentation, follow-up, and analytical skills
Responsibilities:
- Claims Follow-up: Ensure timely and accurate follow-up on outstanding claims, responding to inquiries and correspondence for assigned accounts according to established procedures
- Physician Billing: Handle billing for physicians, including the submission and follow-up of primary and secondary insurance claims
- Insurance Verification: Verify the accuracy of patient insurance and demographic information
- Account Management: Perform follow-up on all outstanding accounts as per company policies and procedures
- Outbound Communication: Place outbound calls to insurance companies to obtain the status of outstanding claims
- Remittance Analysis: Review remittance notices and explanations of benefits, submitting appeals for denials or underpayments as needed
- Patient Responsibility: Determine patient financial responsibility and verify insurance coverage
- Guarantor Contact: Communicate with guarantors regarding any insurance discrepancies
