Job Summary

The Program Administration Specialist will be responsible for carrying out undergraduate student programs on behalf of the Office of Academic Programs in the College of Agriculture. In this role, you will assist with the implementation of the College of Agriculture Spring Start (CASS) program with oversight by the Assistant Director for Recruitment and support the planning and implementation of transformational experiences related to undergraduate research (e.g. Summer College of Agriculture Research Fellowship), issues engagement (e.g. Issues-360® Institute), and Learning Community events in collaboration with the Assistant Director for Academic Excellence.

What You'll Be Doing:

Coordinating and directing the CASS program with support and oversight from the Assistant Director for Recruitment and the Senior Associate DeanCollaborating with leadership to develop, implement and maintain CASS program policies, processes and proceduresImplementing CASS recruitment strategies and devise retention efforts for prospective and current students respectively; educating and guiding students towards opportunities within the programLeading student advising efforts to support their success within the program, collaborating with College of Agriculture advisors and other partners as neededEngaging and communicating with staff and faculty internal and external to the College in order to promote cooperation, gather feedback, enhance opportunities, and work towards growing the program to its greatest potentialContinually assess program and implement minor changes to increase program effectivenessCoordinating, administering and facilitating the Summer College of Agriculture Research Fellowship (SCARF) program, including but not limited to arranging weekly educational and social events and outings, promoting the program to students and faculty, facilitating the application and selection process, and assisting to ensure timely student living allowance paymentsEngaging with faculty to promote undergraduate research opportunities in agricultureRecruiting faculty and staff judges for research presentation eventsAssisting with planning and execution of Issues-360® Institute under the direction of the Assistant Director for Academic Excellence; identify potential speakers and sponsors, facilitate and assist with application and selection process, and contribute to the promotion, planning, and delivery of Issues-360® Institute eventsAssisting with planning and execution of Learning Community engagement initiatives as needed under the direction of the Assistant Director for Academic ExcellenceProviding backup support for the public policy internship program led by the Assistant Director for Career Services, such as participating in the selection process or helping identify workshop topics and speakersPartnering with the Assistant Director for Academic Excellence to budget for issues engagement initiativesOther duties and responsibilities as needed or assigned by the Senior Associate Dean and Director of Academic ProgramsWhat We're Looking For:

Bachelor's degree2 years of relevant, professional experience which may include but is not limited to: Higher Education experience (e.g. advising), Recruitment activities/engaging with prospective students, Program coordination or facilitation, Event planning and promotion, Collaborating with partners and Collaborating with industryStrong written, verbal, organizational, and leadership skillsExcellent public relations skills with the ability to address and engage small and large groups of people when necessaryDetail oriented and strong data, fiscal management, and organizational skillsIndependent problem-solving and judgment skillsAbility to travel and work some nights and weekendsNice to Have:

Master's degree in economics, agricultural economics, marketing, business, higher education, leadership, or related fieldA sound grasp and understanding of the university recruitment, marketing, and orientation processWillingness to work in a changing environmentKnowledge of programs and majors at Purdue UniversityWhat We'd Like You to Know:
