Position: Chief Financial Officer (CFO) – Remote | WFH

Our affiliated clinical education center ranks among the largest providers of optometric services in Massachusetts, managing nearly 90,000 patient visits annually across more than 43 locations, including numerous community health centers throughout Greater Boston.Position OverviewThe Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations of the institution. This includes financial planning, budgeting, management of financial risks, record-keeping, financial analysis, and reporting. Ideal candidates will possess substantial experience in financial management within the higher education sector, as well as an understanding of healthcare or eye care operations.Reporting StructureThe CFO will report directly to the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee all financial operations, including accounting functions, analysis of data, and financial reporting.Direct the preparation of monthly internal financial reports and manage the annual audit process.Manage the development of operating and capital budgets, conduct periodic forecasts, and perform variance analysis.Supervise the Business Office and Financial Aid Office, which manages significant federal loans and assistance.Assess and monitor institutional risk while managing insurance agreements and internal audit controls.Required SkillsProven expertise in financial strategy development and operational improvement.Strong leadership capabilities, with effective team management skills.High level of financial acumen and strategic thinking.Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving proficiency.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.Capacity to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.A commitment to ethical standards and integrity.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; Master’s degree or CPA preferred.Minimum of 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience, including at least 5 years in senior financial management roles within higher education or nonprofit healthcare.Familiarity with financial systems and tools, such as Jenzabar, is advantageous.Experience collaborating with Board of Trustees, including presentations and reporting.Career Growth OpportunitiesThis role presents an exceptional opportunity for career advancement and professional growth within a dynamic educational setting.
