Posted onSep 29, 2022ProfileOrange CountyThe Chief Diversity and Talent Development Officer at Knobbe Martens (the “Firm”) will be responsible for leading and integrating the Firm’s diversity, equity, and inclusion (“DE&I”) and talent development (“TD”) efforts, with a focus on the recruitment, retention, and progression of diverse attorneys. We are seeking an experienced TD professional with deep DE&I expertise and a proven history of innovating and driving change. Under the direction of the Firm’s Managing Partner, this position will serve as a trusted advisor for DE&I and TD initiatives, projects, and plans.ResponsibilitiesIn collaboration with the Firm, develop and execute a comprehensive DE&I and TD strategy, including:Identifying goals, success metrics, and accountability measures.Assessing the impact of current DE&I and TD efforts, identifying gaps/opportunities that require new approaches, and implementing new programs as necessary.Recruiting candidates that support the Firm’s business needs, with a focus on attracting diverse attorneys (including, but not limited to, attorneys of color, women, and LGBTQ attorneys).Facilitating attorney and staff professional development, including programs to improve retention and progress of diverse attorneys.Developing performance feedback programs.Implementing educational opportunities that promote a climate of respect, raise awareness about topical DE&I and racial justice issues, and support the unique needs of diverse attorneys and staff.Design and conduct assessments of DE&I and TD programs to evaluate their impact and measure their ROI.Provide guidance on employee relations and employee communications.Build and maintain a robust, ongoing campaign for both internal and external communications regarding DE&I and/or TD priorities, leveraging the Firm’s intra- and internet sites and social media.Prepare and manage a departmental budget.QualificationsAt least 10 years of experience in DE&I and TD is required, and prior experience working within law firms or professional services companies is preferred.Bachelor’s degree required; J.D. from an ABA accredited law school preferred.Understanding of applicable laws.Critical thinking and analytical skills.EOE, including Disability/Vets
