The Opportunity
We are investing in a Growth Engineering team at Postman, to help developers and teams onboard to a powerful product experience that starts with single-player developers and grows into teams that collaborate on the artifact of the API like teams collaborate with the artifact of a design file using Figma. We are building this team for a number of reasons, notably:Optimize sign-up to delight, for both individuals and teamsHelp users uncover the power of Postman (it’s

than “just” an API client), gradually and at the right momentGuide users to key activation moments (like creating their first collection, or inviting a member to their team) that lead to expansion and a stickier product experienceIn effect: we know we have a product experience and funnel that works and it works quite well. even more ). We’re looking for an experienced engineering leader who has previously led an engineering team within a highly scalable, fast-growing business to lead this charter at Postman. You’ll work closely with Postman’s engineering leadership and our product and design teams to achieve our mission of connecting 100M developers in the world. We specifically hope this person is you, because while the team is small right now, we want a seasoned engineering leader who has built small teams into great, outsized outcomes.Who are we

Lead a diverse team . Lead a team of diverse engineers in the United States and collaborate well with a globally distributed team.Collaborate cross-functionally . Partner with peers in Product, Engineering, Design, and Data Analytics to deliver experiments that span across the entire Postman product.Help shape strategy . Define and evolve the team’s strategy and staffing aligned with leadership.Hire the best . Participate in the end-to-end recruiting process, hiring, and onboarding exceptional engineering talent.Measure and iterate . Define, measure, and own key metrics for the performance of your functional area.Motivate and communicate
across multiple levels. Bring out the best in the individuals on your team by enabling them to do the best work of their lives.Cultivate a growth mindset . Help engineers develop new skills and advance in their careers.Make change, across teams . Lead technical initiatives to solve problems across teams and be responsible for the adoption and success of the initiatives by working closely with other teams.Improve the system . Advocate for best practices that improve the productivity and quality of the team.About you
Must-have:4+ years of experience serving in an engineering management role, either building customer-facing products or developer-facing products.Measure twice, cut once . Experience managing the delivery of experiments (A/B, Multivariate, etc) that drive measurable impact.Top-tier communicator . You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.You must be a builder . While we don’t expect you to be hands-on coding, we expect you to be regularly using the product and able to speak the same language as the team building the tool.Detail oriented . We have to care about the details, and while we don’t expect you to be a designer, you need to care about the product experience that our teams are shipping.Customer obsession . As we are a core product with years of muscle memory, we need a leader who is able and willing to leverage the voice of the customer to expedite decision making, develop conviction, and most importantly delight our user.Experience managing engineering teams that deliver impactful results as quickly as possible but do so
safely
and with appropriate guard rails around a mature product experience that our users depend upon us to just work.Based in the San Francisco Bay Area.Nice to have:Experience building and working with hybrid teams.Experience working on a SaaS developer tool product.Experience in building applications in multiple platforms - such as web, desktop, mobile.Our values

If the role is based in the greater San Francisco area, the reasonably estimated salary for this role ranges from $216,750 to $293,250, plus a competitive equity package. Actual compensation is based on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition to our pay-on-performance philosophy, we offer a comprehensive set of benefits, including full medical coverage, flexible PTO, wellness reimbursement, and a monthly lunch stipend. Salaries will vary outside of the listed metropolitan areas & the U.S.Equal opportunity
