The radiation oncology program at Spectrum Health is certified by the American College of Radiation Oncology.About Outpatient ClinicsCorewell Health operates over 300 outpatient clinics across Michigan, bringing a multitude of care options to the communities that we serve. There are over 40 different types of primary care and specialty practices, which allows those who work in these clinics the opportunity to learn and explore various interests or to specialize in one area.Scope of workPrimarily and professionally engaged in the evaluation, delivery, and optimization of therapeutic applications of ionizing radiation, and the equipment associated with their production, use and measurement. Role involves clinical and educational components. Performs radiation safety duties as required for regulatory compliance and safe use of ionizing radiation. Performs and oversees calibrations, quality assurance monitoring, acceptance testing and commissioning for all radiation oncology simulation, planning, and treatment equipment. Oversees the maintenance and repairs of simulation and radiation treatment units. Responsible for releasing these machines for sale, clinical use following service. Reviews treatment plan calculations and data input into record and verifies system for accuracy, as performed by physics and technical employees. Performs and oversees external beam and brachytherapy treatment plans. Works closely with the radiation oncologists and dosimetrists providing consultation on treatment techniques for the optimization of radiation dose distribution in patients.
