partners with local governments, tribes, community action agencies, community-based organizations, and nonprofits to provide community assistance and services to promote individual and family self-sufficiency and reduce poverty; address the causes and effects of crime and interpersonal violence; and increase equity and belonging for underserved and historically marginalized communities by centering the voices of lived experience.The

Office of Crime Victims Advocacy (OCVA)

is housed within the Community Services Division. OCVA advocates on behalf of victims, administers grant funds for community programs, assists communities in planning and implementing services, and advises local and state government agencies of practices, policies, and priorities.You can learn more about OCVA here.OCVA Program Coordinator Duties:OCVA funds victim services across the state, working with nonprofits, tribal governments, and local governments. This position will work in all three of OCVA’s programmatic areas (sexual assault, domestic violence, and victims of crime). This position will work with each team when there is a need for additional supports due to things such as (but not limited to): staff vacancies, new funding, or new program implementation strategies.Below is a snapshot of the program coordinator duties and activities.Program Development –Assist with the development of funding applications and track the status of applications submitted.Review applications to verify they are complete, follow up with applicants on any questions or issues.Grant Management –Prepare, review, and route grant documents, including an approved budget and scope of work.Monitor grants to make sure the work plan and budget are on track. This includes reviewing and approving invoices – which are often submitted monthly; reviewing and analyzing service and activity data – which is often submitted quarterly.Monitoring can include formal site visits and monitoring reports, as well as informal communications such as emails and phone calls. Program Coordinators complete risk assessments and monitoring plans for each grantee.Monitoring includes communication with section managers on how grantees are doing, and working across the team on any additional supports or actions needed.Technical Assistance -In consultation with the section manager, provide information and resources on grant compliance and victim service best practices. Staff often refer to professional experience, research, service standards, funding requirements, and coordinate with technical assistance providers that assist OCVA grantees and partners.Required Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree AND two years of professional experience in community, trade or economic development with a focus in management or delivery of services and/or administration of crime victims services/assistance or related field (crime, victim services, mental health services, etc.).If the applicant does not have a Bachelor’s Degree, six years of professional experience, or six years total of a combination of higher education and professional experience as described.A graduate or advanced degree may substitute for one year of the required experience.One-year experience working for or in partnership with organizations based in marginalized or underserved communities and Native American tribes.Experience in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) competencies:DEI knowledge, understanding, and commitmentSelf-awareness and commitment to growthCultivating mutually beneficial and trusting strategic partnershipsInclusive excellence and allyshipMeasuring for success and improvementPreferred Qualifications:Experience working with grants to community-based and criminal justice organizations assisting crime victims and/or experience in contracting public funds to community agencies.Experience interpreting and applying detailed policies and procedures.Ability to meet budget, grant, and reporting deadlines with high degree of accuracy.Ability to develop, organize and conduct application and contracting processes including writing and negotiating performance-based grants.Demonstrated high level of interpersonal communication skills with both grantees and colleagues; this includes clear oral and written communication; being collaborative, and building and maintaining relationships.To be considered for this position the following are needed:A complete and detailed online application.A cover letter (enter online).At least three professional references (enter online).For questions about this recruitment, please contact our recruitment team via email:

- please reference the job number in your message.Work from Anywhere in Washington StateThis position may be located anywhere within Washington State though occasional travel to a Commerce office building or in-state travel to attend events or meetings may be required. If selected, you will need to travel to pick up equipment and receive instruction. Many Commerce employees work remote or have a hybrid schedule. However, it is anticipated that interviews for this position will be held using virtual videoconferencing.
