**Job Description:**

- Work within the Float Pool covering MedSurg Tele and PCU units, including inpatients in the emergency department holding area.- Provide care in various settings across two campuses, with specific units for ICU and stepdown patients.- Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4 for PCU and 1:5-6 for MedSurg Tele.- Common patient demographics include geriatric and orthopedic patients and those from a strong cath lab program.- Manage post-MI, post-Cardiac Cath, and post-op day 3-4 CABG patients.- Must demonstrate proficiency in managing and titrating a range of drips, including Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Insulin.- Charge nurses are present on each unit and do not take assignments, while nursing aides are utilized in all settings.- Use CPAP, BiPAP, and Heated High Flow devices, especially during night shifts.- Interpret monitor strips and communicate with monitor techs for PCU and MedSurg Tele units.- Shifts are scheduled in 7-7 intervals for AM and PM. The float pool scheduler designs the schedule, which is published 6 weeks in advance.- Weekend work is required every other weekend and holiday work will include travelers in permanent staff rotation.- Staff receive unit/department-specific orientation, which consists of a general hospital orientation day and shifts in both West MedTele and PCU units.- The charting system used is Cerner.- Uniform requirements include wearing solid color professional scrubs, transitioning to navy scrubs.

Travelers are expected to be flexible with assignments, notified two hours prior to their shift via text message, and may need to travel between campuses, which are approximately 20-25 minutes apart.
