Senior Program Director

1. Develops, implements and manages operating plans, events and schedules to promote program and/or membership growth and retention for the YMCA. Executes strategies to ensure that members and/or program participants connect with one another and connect with the YMCA.

2. Recruits, trains, develops, evaluates, recognizes, holds accountable and directs staff and volunteers in assigned areas, in order to ensure safe, high-quality member focused services through innovative program development, evaluations and ongoing staff training. Ensures staff certifications are current and complete. Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions.

3. Develops and controls budgets related to the position.

4. Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives. Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.

5. Ensures quality results by monitoring and evaluating program effectiveness and adhering to program standards. Provides data and reports as required for assigned programs.

6. Monitors daily operations and ensures compliance/training with all state and local licensing/regulations (including but not limited to OCFS, YMCA Best Practices, American Camp Association standards and Department of Health policies). Ensures that all procedures are followed and accurate records are maintained.

7. Provides leadership and support to the annual fundraising campaign.

8. Keeps updated professional knowledge of all programs through self -study, research, and/or conference/workshop participation.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:

· Meet or exceed budget expectations.

· Quality results from various member surveys.

· Increased or consistent program participation/member retention

· Trained, qualified, certified and adequately recognized staffBachelor's degree in human services, social services, recreation, business or equivalent.

2. Four or more years of program management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.

3. Ability to direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations, program development and fund-raising.

4. Prefer knowledge of and previous experience with, diverse populations.

5. Proven track record of developing authentic and deepened relationships with others.

6. Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.

7. YMCA Team Leader or Multi-team/Branch Leader certification preferred.

8. CPR and First Aid certifications may be required.

9. Ability to meet NYS certification requirements for a Camp Director.
