our Greater Cleveland YMCA team in living our cause and helping to provide quality, safe and healthy programs and services in our community.POSITION SUMMARY:This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Develops, organizes, and implements high quality, member and community-focused YMCA aquatic programs.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives and goals.Establishes new program activities and expands programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules, and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance.Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete.Conducts regular sanitation of all equipment and assigned areas as outlined by YMCA Leadership.Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all health and safety regulations.Ensures aquatic safety best practices are in place throughout the branch and that a culture of aquatic safety is developed by conducting safety drills.Conducts and ensures proper maintenance of pools.Secures and schedules pool facilities.Maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance.Conducts/Assures lifeguarding, swim instruction, First Aid, and CPR trainings are delivered.Creates and schedules YMCA aquatics programs (such as swim lessons, water fitness classes, and swim team practices and meets).Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.Develops and monitors safety, swim team, and program budgets to meet fiscal objectives.Assists in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.Assists with Program Committee meetings, compiles program statistics, monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs.Serves as a Cause Driven Leader on Duty (CDLOD).Performs other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:Education:Associates Degree preferred.In lieu of Associates Degree, High School diploma, GED, or equivalent certificate of competency and 2-3 years of related work experience.Experience:Minimum of three (3) years of related experience required.Three (3) years supervisor and/or leadership experience preferred.Certification(s) and Requirements:Certified Pool Operator required. Must be obtained within 90 days of employment if not preferred before hire.Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification required.Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor Certification preferred.CPR and First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire.Technical Skills and Knowledge:Completion of YMCA program-specific and Operational trainings within 30 days of hire.Completion of YMCA aquatics training and trainer certifications.Demonstrate commitment to the mission, cause of the YMCA, and uphold its values and ethics.Ability to work effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions, and perceptions.Willingness and ability to be a mandated reporter for any signs or suspicion of child abuse and neglect.About YMCA of Greater Cleveland: Our vision is to be the premier community-based, charitable organization that embraces collaborations to build strong kids, strong families, and strong communities.
