We are currently hiring for a Safety Manager who will work out of our Rincon Georgia Distribution Center.
Their overall mission will be to promote a strong safety culture and healthy work environment and promote safety initiatives with the goal of zero accidents and injuries. As the subject matter expert, this is an integral position within the organization to provide a safe workplace for all employees by developing and implementing safety programs, enforcing policies, conducting training, inspections, audits, and job safety analysis to ensure compliance with our corporate, local, state, federal and various regulatory agencies. This position will spend extensive time in our warehouse facilities and office space and will collaborate with various leaders to ensure company targets are met and retained.
Responsibilities:
Leadership and Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and develop the safety team to ensure effective implementation of safety policies and procedures.
- Assist in providing strategic direction and planning with personnel and the organization's safety initiative.
- Foster a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement within the organization.
- Establish and maintain effective communication and collaboration with employees, managers, contractors, vendors, and external agencies on safety matters.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
- Assist with overseeing CTPAT (Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) compliance and ensure all security measures are in place to meet requirements.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify and rectify any non-compliance issues.
- Assist in leading the vetting, selection, and implementation of an EHS and LMS platform specifically conducive to HMTX's overall strategy.
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs and training sessions for all employees.
- Conduct safety orientations for new hires and ongoing training for current staff to ensure understanding and adherence to safety protocols.
- Perform regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Lead as the SME with investigations of workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and develop strategies to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents and safety performance metrics.
- Will track along with People and Culture Dept. all open worker's compensation cases.
- Oversee fire safety protocols, including fire drills, evacuation plans, and emergency response procedures.
- Ensure all fire safety equipment is regularly inspected and maintained.
- Physical Security:
- Develop and implement physical security measures to protect employees, assets, and facilities.
- Coordinate with security personnel to monitor and address security breaches or vulnerabilities.
- Collaborate with management, P&C, and other departments to ensure safety policies are integrated into all aspects of operations.
- Communicate safety updates, findings, and recommendations to senior management and employees.
- Support and promote HMTX's strong safety culture striving toward the attainable goal of zero accidents and injuries.
- Integration with computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and safety checklist and safety systems maintenance.
- Responsible for completing any other duties and tasks as assigned by management.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a safety role, preferably in a warehouse or multi-facility environment.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, CTPAT compliance, physical security, and fire and life safety.
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage and develop a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Certification in safety management (e.g., CSP, ASP) is preferred.
- Proficiency in using safety management software and MS Office applications.
- Preferably a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering, or related field or equivalent years of experience in a related field (safety, security, risk management, compliance, environmental health).
- OSHA 30-Hour Required.
- Must be First Aid, CPR, AED certified.
- Up to 30% travel required.
- May be required to lift, push, pull, or maneuver up to 50lbs.
- Typical working hours are Monday-Friday; 8 am-5 pm EST. Additional hours may be required.
- Must be able to work in an industrial, warehouse and/or office sitting, standing, sitting, pulling, reaching, and climbing.
The salary range for this role is $59K to $62K. This range is applicable for jobs performed in the Savannah region. An employee's pay position within the pay range will be based on several factors including relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, and business organizational needs.
